It's gone too far for him not to go ahead and go through with it. He's gonna do it when it gives him the most advantage/leverage, whatever that might be.
It's gonna happen and the only restriction on influential this ends up being, if they do nothing Republicans in the House and Senate fail to use the momentum to enact other cannabis related legislation, most importantly banking legislation. Enacting the banking legislation would be an immensely vast boon to the cannabis industry. It would also mean a huge feather in the cap of the President and the Republican Party.
Now bear in mind, we are talking about politicians and they can be really really stupid and not do the right thing. Just by releasing this video and endorsing it, it has begun to qualm some Republicans reservations about voting pro cannabis legislation. It gives them an out with their constituents, if their constituents start to bitch and moan, or when they run for elections and use the President as an excuse. It'll be even more so when he actually rescheduled it.

I don't normally invest in cannabis. Just too volatile and controlled by governments.
The Democrats could have had this all done before the last election, not that it really would have mattered but it could have been done. And that's exactly why Trump is doing this. It's a power play for sure. Is the Republicans in the House and Senate don't take advantage of this, then they're absolute friggin morons and deserve every bit of the crap that they get! Like the crap the Dems are getting now..... they earned it!
