several related buteos are very hard to distinguish, I gave up before chiming in. A location might eliminate possibilities.
I just looked up hawk species in wi and I saw an article that had a redtail as a mature female coopers hawk. But then theres other websites that show completely different birds as coopers hawks so I just dont know anymore.

I dont think I am. Since Im doing organic Im trying not to flush anything out. Only giving her .5 to .75 gallons of plain ph water when the pots are pretty light. But when I do water about half of it runs straight through the medium and out before it starts to soak it up and I use yucca with every watering
Hydroguard is great for root rot. Also organic. Might want to wait to get them healthy again before flipping to flower :pass:

Yeah probably, I just dont want her to get too big. Both of these strains are known for having an outrageous stretch. And Im not that great at managing a super crowded tent.

I'm pretty sure it is a buteo, not an accipiter, but hawks can be pretty tough sometimes, the plumage is variable, especially among buteos. The tail does not look long enough for an accipiter to me. When I ran the photo through my Merlin app, it came up with a short list of buteos, which included the red tailed, but I can't tell which one your bird is.

Don't sweat not being able to identify hawks, at times I am pretty sure that they stump experts, and I think the buteos are the worst of the bunch due to variable plumage (I'm not an expert, but I have experience). Due to the variable plumage, finding an illustration that fits is often impossible no matter how many bird references you check. Also, I think that the rascals hybridize, which makes things even worse.

If you have at least a passing interest in birds, you might be interested in the Merlin app. It can identify by sound as well as photos. It is not perfect, but it is remarkably good.:pighug:

Oh that would have been helpful, while I was taking pics it was making a noise. Kinda sounded like a coo, but stressed out.
