My son-in-law was a corpsman in the navy, never did a day on a ship. He was attached to marine units in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I did a little bit of everything…. Was on a ship first tour (3 deployments) then gave up my shore duty partway through to switch jobs, went to some schools and deployed to Iraq….repeated the school/deploy cycle a few times before getting hurt and things went downhill from there ….. :pass:

But i do know he went into the navy cuz he was too stupid to get into college!
There’s a comedian that has a joke that says…. “ if you joined the military for educational benefits, I don’t think college is going to help…”:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

That reminds me of my uncle in Michigan! Dude has marine tattoos all over and is the president of a VFO location but his military career lasted 1 day! No bullshit on day 2 his mom showed up at the boot camp and pulled some shit and got him withdrew from the military that day! He never shares that part he just says he was a marine!:haha::crying:
Reminds me of my brother…..he was in the marine corps band :haha::doh::doh::doh:

He’s obviously the smarter one of the two of us….

Funny how the military is these days compared to the past. I have family that had a choice between the military or juvi prison. They always chose military and it straightened them out. My uncle and father-in-law were both in trouble as kids and got sent off to boot camp. They cant do that anymore. I think when they told the military they cant beat the shit out of the recruits anymore, they said fine, keep your troubled youth.
