The people here are amazing. I mean, great. But I don't think I have ever felt so.. not insecure, but un-protected, you know what I mean? Like wherever I have been I have always felt, real or not, that the gov is in control and if shit goes out of hand in a bad way big brother is gonna step in. In Portugal considerably less so. I feel like all the cops do is trying to keep a low profile and clock out asap. They act like me at work.

I don't know if they are the same as in Spain but here the local police are more like traffic wardens in the UK.

They do the small stuff and the Guardia Civil do the heavy stuff. The Guardia are the ones with guns...and absolutely no sense of humour..
