I sold home security systems door to door one summer. In the bad neighborhoods everybody wanted them. I'm not a natural salesman, but it was a good product and a good deal, so I did pretty well. Until November and knocking on doors in ankle deep snow. People just shouted through the closed door, "come back in the spring."I wasn't pushy but at the least I made quotas. Yeah commissions were great but lugging all that stuff door to door lost it's charm after a few months.
The salesmen I pitied sold knives door to door. Imagine people wanting to let a stranger with knives into their home!
