I signed up to start getting Social Security at age 62 because I didn't think I was gonna make it to 65 (74 now and still here). I only get the minimum because I worked mostly off the books (contracting, fishing, smuggling, overseas jobs, bum, handyman). It's nice to find $1,000 in the bank every month that I didn't put there meself. The wife was a teacher for 44 years, so she gets the maximum SS plus teacher pension. She makes more retired than I ever made at a job.
