Christmas brunch was great, the duck fat roasted potatoes were every bit as good as I hoped they would be.

The cortisone shot I got in my shoulder Christmas Eve caused my blood sugar to get wildly out of control. I have since learned that it is basically the same as the hormone cortisol - that contributes to insulin resistance. It has been a wild ride. I had to double the amount of insulin and still felt like shit with high blood sugar. My shoulder pain has lessened and I start PT next week. We are going to see if I can avoid surgery. I feel I should have been warned about the affect it would have on my diabetes before I got the shot. They will defiantly get an earful from me after I complete my PT and go back for a consultation.

I don't know where I saw them on Christmas day but I started craving BBQ pork ribs. I got up early Friday and went to the WinCo to buy some St. Louis style ribs, the store had been closed for Christmas and all of the pork in the case was frozen solid. I very seldom buy meat at Walmart but I went there next sold out of ribs, Then I went to Vallarta a Mexican market, they don't sell St. Louis or Baby-back ribs WTF? They did have many slabs of spare ribs. I bought one. I sous vide them at 165°F for six hours then finished them of on a very hot grill and Kraft's Original BBQ sauce. They were delicious and yes worth all of the effort.
