I thought I was going to miss Ms. MOG's cold as she is nearly over it, my turn
My Doc gave me a Continuous Glucose Monitor yesterday to help me learn better how to use insulin when I need to use it. When I explained to him how hard it is to control my BS after the cortisone shot, He just looked at me and said "you cannot" then he stated that it may take as much as 5 times the normal amount of insulin to put a dent in it. He stated that the CGM can help but really a couple of days for the shot to dissipate is what really will fix it.
So this morning at 1:30am I was awakened by my CGM beeping a warning, Ms. MOG woke first. It was reading my BS as low at 68
well I got up and went and ate part of a banana. I did not feel shaky and anything below 95 and I start to feel it. Then the meter started to say "error" check back in ten minutes. I just went back to sleep. So then at 4am it starts beeping again......... this time reading 62, I don't believe it and I go do a a finger stick BGM and it read 132. I put the CGM reader too far away for it to read and went back to sleep. It turns out that you cannot put constant pressure on the sensor as it causes a compression low reading when the interstitial fluid is compressed out of the tissue that the sensor is reading. I was sleeping on it! Placing the sensor in a different location next time should help.
