Where I live, we also have these buggers:
About twice the size of standard yellow jackets, and with a sting far worse than size would suggest. And they are seriously aggressive about defending their nest, which is sometimes the better part of a foot in diameter. Looks like this:
Quite a few years back, I was chainsawing a downed aspen tree on my rural property when I noticed black things moving inside the face protector of my chain saw helmet. I looked to my right for some reason and there was one of these nests hanging from the aspen I was cutting, about six feet from me. It had a firehose of hornets streaming out of the entrance, all of them headed my way. I was already engulfed in dozens if not hundreds. The chainsaw went left, the helmet went right, and I departed as fast as I could. They nailed me about a dozen times around the head and neck. Nasty buggers, well avoided.
Many of the gro peeps here in North America have met these things, but I don't think Mossy needs to worry about them.
