I don't know if kids here do Halloween, yet. At home kids started doing it on a large scale like 10 or 15 years ago.
I like holidays of course but I don't like it when big sugar companies invent them for us. In thee olde country they had a holiday already in place that didn't include candy and that was hundreds of years old, but they managed to get rid of it and replace it with plastic pumpkins and shit.

If it is of any help, I have not seen a trick or treater for more than a decade

I am obsessed with American candy. I can't find candy corn in Portugal. In Porto there's an American candy shop and they don't have it, I asked the guy if he could get it and he said he has tried in the past and noone bought it because it's not good.
To my understanding from this thread it is what you use as a filler for candybags.
I bought a Babe Ruth and tried it. It was nice. I had hyped it up in my head to be something special though, and it wasn't.

So far I really like Reese's PB cups out of the more American nice candies. My mom made similar sweets when I was little.

In that store he has a lot of "High protein candy" and it all tastes like cardboard and I don't get it. Nobody gets candy for the health benefits and it's all bull anyway.

When I lived in Thailand I tried a lot of Chinese candy. They love slimy jello type candies.

Swedish candy I have to claim to be the best. I come from there and grew up on it so I guess I'm a bit biased.

I think swedes would hit pretty high on a list of candy sales per capital, but I have no science.

I'll get someone to send me like 10 candy corn in a Ziploc bag in a suspicious package. I don't know about Portuguese authorities but in Sweden I did stuff like that a couple of times and took up societies resources. Go and send that bonbon to chemical analysis. I'm telling you it's just candy but ok.

I don't mind those personally but I never allowed any of my kids to eat stuff any stranger gives them. But it's their momma's idea. But yeah, there's a lot of crazy people out there.
