Sounds good. One additional device to help is a macro rail, simple ones can be had online for ~$30 or so. Being able to move the camera in fine increments toward and away from the subject in order to focus will make macro shots far easier.
I do all my trich check mischief with a micro four thirds camera with a macro lens, all mounted on a macro rail on a tripod. Makes the whole thing super easy.
If you want to get really fancy, you can add focus stacking software. Rabbit hole alert!
