I had a different dog back then…. As soon as the front door blew open, I tackled the dog and layed on top of it….otherwise they would have certainly shot him (Pitbull)…. It probably also made me look rather non threatening as well.

American police work is quite "amazing" from my point of view... shooting fleeing suspects/criminals, that insane car chases and ramming maneuvers, absolutely unthinkable in good old Europe. ^^ Better let one baddie get away (for the moment) than putting innocents at risk, but in the US it still seems quite "Wild West" :/

If it is right...it brings up some interesting anomalies...I just don't know enough about US laws...

There were some facts in there, like yes there are 3 different sets of laws, Federal, State, and Tribal (different for each state and each tribe). They do often overlap or conflict. The Feds usually have the ultimate say. When the State tries to infringe on my local Seneca tribe rights by trying to charge them tax on tobacco or gasoline the Indians have occasionally shut down the NYS Thruway with burning tires until the State relents (the NYS Thruway runs through the Seneca Cataraugus Reservation). The Seneca Nation has some unique rights like freedom from taxation (they don't pay NYS sales tax, and sell tobacco and gasoline tax free). The Senecas had legal casino gambling for decades before NYS sold lottery. The Indians legalized weed several years before NYS, and licensed dispensaries on the reservations. HoF's dissertation went way beyond the facts into fantasy about synergy between the 3 sets of laws, or being able to slip between the cracks and get away with stuff.

I kind of view HoF as more of a concepts guy…. He’s not being factual, he’s putting forth concepts that may or may not be viable….but may be worthy of further exploration, were one so inclined to do so…
