Living in the perfect autoflower climate NORTH OF 50..

so i live so far north that the sun never goes down in the summer and never comes up in the winter. photo strains would be 3 weeks into flower by the time snow came.. my only option for outdoors is autoflowers...

my grow this year will be mephisto genetics tyrone special..
grown outdoors in compost..in a place where autos where born to be grown..

Autos are indeed the best and many times the only option for far north outdoors. I've seen pretty good results with some northern auto varieties, not from commercial seedbanks of course. Mephisto sounds like a very good choice, I really want to see how this grow will progress.

What climate do you have in the summer? Keep in mind most auto's are ruderalis x potent indoor varieties that have long lost their capability to cope with the outdoors. Bug, mold and disease resistance can be pretty laughable. If you can find a good microclimate you'll be fine though, just watch out where you plant.
Otherwise there are also outdoor varieties x ruderalis which should do just fine regarding mold etc, but may be less potent.

Good luck dude. I would find places with dips or valleys. Valleys hold heat when you get in to fall. They take the cold better than people think. Last year i found a valley with a gravel slope, figured the gravel would hold heat. Then I dug holes in it put a nice organic soil with lots of manure. I guess that was as soon asap. Let them sit till it was warm enuff to plant. I start inside with the two cup method about 3 or 4 week early. Waiting till the show sex and they should be good. But these are a strain i have been making for Alaska. Been climatizing. Thats how it do it. Oh when it gets later towards fall if you can shake them when it rains it helps with mold. Have fun

Hi HG, welcome to AFN and good luck with your grow. There are a lot of outdoor AF growers here including me so I think you will be fine. If you can keep your soil temperatures warm with black plastic mulch or something similar it will help with your short season. If stealth is not a big concern I had good success last spring starting plants in Wall-o-water units http://www.gardenharvestsupply.com/productcart/pc/wall-o-water-3-pack-p3949.htm

You can set them up a few weeks before you are ready to put out your plants to start warming up the soil. They allowed me to get plants out a month earlier than I would have without them

I live N of arctic circle. Grow autos on S side of cabin in a green house shed. Seeds go in 1st week of June, soon thereafter is usually hottest weather of year, so I use shade cloth to moderate while plants are young. The greenhouse cover protects from early frost, always get some in Aug! I look for the fastest growers, they need to be harvested by Sept.1, although up against the cabin and covered up they could probably weather a hard freeze, but I really don't want to risk loosing any of the crop. I've seen it as cold as single digits second week of Sept.

Welcome goast yer right ....with good knowledge of yer land and climate u have the perfect conditions for a outdoor guerilla grow fer autos.. ive lived in the north and assume its fairly dry in summer? Id start indoors and put them in big holes of super soil. As the sun is gonna stay pretty high in the sky id make use of surrounding cover.
swamp tubes might also be a good idea. The muskeg is a formidable cover if ya can pull it off.
