Just wondering if anyone has tried this? My bean has literally just popped nd it seems kinda pointless having all that wattage over one seedling it's a 13a fuse in the plug I was thinking of changing it to a 5a?
Ha ha - It really doesn't work like that I'm sorry. Tho it would seem to me that you should be probably be using a lower rated fuse for your LED anyway (to both protect the LED and yourself from accidental short outs or failures that could injure or kill you). Having had mains power electric shocks 3 times in my life (one of which left me with a burnt sooty deposits on the surface of my some parts of my skin) you learn to respect the juice that comes out of the wall.
Not an electrician, but if my childhood physics serves me right Current in AMPS (I) = Power (P) in Watts /(divided by) Voltage (V)
So a Mars Hydro 300 which has a real draw power of 180Watts run on a 240Volts power supply should only be drawing about 0.75Amps of Current - so a 3A fuse should be the recommended fitting in the wall plug. I=P/V so 180/240 = 0.75Amps
Now if you are on a 120Volt mains system that would be different. 180/120=1.5Amps
For other lighting types like HPS and Metal Halide lamps - and also to a lesser extent CFL lighting, there is a 'surge current' - this is a draw of power that far exceeds the rated power of the light for the first few seconds as the lamp is fired up.
So while changing the rating of your fuse might well save your bacon in an accident it won't change the amount of power or the brightness of the light in any way.
You could try sticking a few chilli plants in beside your weed for the first few weeks to keep it company (also helps with the humidity).
you could try putting in lower powered drivers, run the leds at a lower wattage. Or units with dimming timers built in, lowers the output, lowers the wattage used.
or just get a unit that you can switch some of the led modules off which is probably the easiest solution.
