Lighting Lower canopy is a big budlet jungle

Yeah, I have been doing leaf tucking several times a day @Growtogrow. I have done finger leaf cutting many times while taking clones, forgot I read that sometime in the last week, so I will do that as well. I did take about 10-15 fans that were blocking lower budsites from getting lights. I think I will stop now before I get too crazy. Kind of like giving yourself your own haircut, usually turns out bad. BTW - Mephisto lists the Double Grape as 60% indica. Thanks for the reassurance.

Right good job that's exactly what you need to do and practice that LST open her up the more you can open them up the better off you are for getting Bud sites to grow bigger you know and that's what's all about growing some bigger buds[emoji12]

I have 2 Meph Skywalker's. One is the one that was bushy and I had to hack some off and is the one I mention in this discussion. The other was more of a sativa pheno and was tall and lanky and had very skinny leaves. Had an irrigation issue for a day and both plants went a bit dry. The skinny one didn't have much leaves on her and like I said were skinny. I trimmed the lower section like a light lollipop when in veg. That plant did not bounce back very well at all from the irrigation glitch and I think I'm going to have to kill it. I think it was because it did not have enough leaves on it to be able to suck up light and recover well. The other plant, the bushy one, recovered very well. I think the lesson there for me is don't hack off many fan leaves. I know some people (advanced pro's) can hack off almost every leaf (on purpose) and get a great harvest. But for me I think I need to be careful and keep a balance of enough vegetation just in case I have an issue and have to do a recovery.
