Eh, yeah. When I started I had a device that looked like a cigarette, but it wasn't nearly strong enough. And most of the liquids available at the larger places aren't that strong. They usually cap out at 24mg/ml tops, and that wasn't nearly strong enough for me. If I didn't find cheap places selling 32-36mg/ml, I'd still be smoking now.
With that out of the way, at least you're familiar with the base liquids (whether you realize it or not). The two liquids used for vaping are vegetable glycerine and propylene glycol. Some people will have a sensitivity to one or the other; if you used their liquids (which were inexpensive Chinese liquids, most likely PG by a wide margin) and didn't experience coughing fits, wheezing, or hives, then you're likely fine with PG. PG will taste 'cleaner' (less of its own flavor), VG produces a denser, sweeter vapor that feels more like smoking for most people. In any event, you can find safe PG at a lot of farm and tool shops (farmers will sometimes use it to sweeten feed), and VG can be found at any pharmacy in the 'beauty' department. Or if you're patient and don't mind shipping costs, I could list a bunch of places I've used online to grab the liquids.
Using BHO/QWISO is the easiest. I'd use 1g per 10ml of liquid for a light effect, 2-3 times that for a more medicinal effect depending on tolerance. I sometimes like to make up a weaker batch because I vape pretty constantly. Since my PV (personal vaporizer, an 'advanced' e-cig; I regularly use what's basically a G-Pen for my nicotine, but I paid far less and get adjustable voltage with mine) is attached to my mouth like a baby's bottle and I can't be out of my gourd all day every day, sometimes weaker is better for me. You can add the material directly to your liquid of choice and be done with it, but that can take some time to dissolve completely (I've known folks who waited up to 6 months to use hashed VG liquids; it's a great solvent, it's just slow as hell). You can speed this up by using high proof alcohol. As always, everclear is best, but 151 will work if it's what you have. 151 can impart an odd flavor, but it'll still work fine.
So, for example, we take 2.5g QWISO and add it to 10-12ml of alcohol and put it in a dark place, making sure to shake it for a minute or two several times a day, and store it some place dark and cool. It also wouldn't hurt to warm it up, like on a heating pad or the like, every couple of days for 10-30 minutes, shaking violently after taking it off and before putting it back some place dark. After 2-4 weeks (depending on alcohol proof, amount of starting material, ambient temps, etc; basically when there's no solid pieces or thick chunks floating around) add the alcohol to 10ml of your solvent (VG or PG) of choice. I use a crock pot and a small pyrex measuring cup to slowly cook the alcohol off; you can use any other heat source that doesn't have a flame (alcohol vapors are flamable; we're trying to conveniently and covertly get high, not burn the house down), just make sure it has a low heat option and you can see how much liquid is left before you call it done. The slower the better here or you can end up with some weird flavors in the vapor.
When you have 10-11ml of liquid left, you know the alcohol is gone and it's ready to go. I have a large stash of plastic bottles with built in removable drip-tops from vaping that I'll load the liquid in to. I usually travel with a couple bottles of nic liquid anyways, so it works fine for me. Since all my equipment is 510 threaded (there are various threads for different pieces of vape equipment, all with their own hardware. 510 is the most common, but most brick-and-mortar e-cig equipment is 808 threaded), I'll also load up one of these with about a ml of liquid and be on my way. If I'm in a real saucy mood, I'll load up one of these, which holds 3ml of liquid. I have vaped all the time for years so no one even notices when I pull something like that out.
If you used VG the liquid might thicken up a bit, so you might need to open up the top of the bottle with scissors a little. If you used PG it may thicken up, but it won't be any thicker than VG is so it should be fine. You can add flavors, from basic menthol crystals to fireball candy, waffles, fruit flavors, or damn near anything else (I know at least one vendor that sells a crab flavoring) if you want, or just enjoy as is. Sometimes QWISO will come out with very little taste, so the flavors can help you enjoy it more. They can also mask the scent of hash in the air, so if you're trying to be stealth flavors can help.
I hope this makes sense. I'm sure theres a lot thats going to sound like Greek to some folks, so if it isn't clear, let me know. I can point out where to get anything I mentioned but the hash, so if you need some places to grab some of the stuff I mentioned just say something and I can point you to some people I've used over the years. The equipment talk can get confusing as hell, too, and I'll do my best to explain anything that doesn't make sense.
Edited to add: If you leave a small bit of alcohol (~5-10%) in that hashed VG mix it also makes a great breath spray or sublingual tincture, depending on how strong you made it. Do be careful with the glass breath spray bottles that seem to be everywhere these days; sometimes the cap can come undone if you keep it in full pockets. This has happened to me several times, as my pockets are usually pretty loaded. You can sometimes add a small rubber o-ring to the bottle before you screw the cap on (depending on how the bottle is made), but otherwise just keep that in mind.
