Hey all,

Normally I run a dose of Mammoth P once a week on some xl smart pots. I am wondering if anyone has added it directly to the res? I have control over each pot so it is not the end of the world to just turn them off to dry out for a day before I add but I would prefer to not have to do that! I would much prefer to just add it in ratio into my res and let it go from their. They say that is is supplemental and can be used with every watering. I have not used it before but I like the idea, I am growing organically this run and so have only water in my rez at the moment.

I'm a little cconfused about what you are asking. Are you asking if mammoth p can be added to a res? If so, yes. It can be added to a res. And if you are growing organic, what are you using mammoth p for?

Are you growing hydro or are we talking about an autopot res? I would not add Mammoth P to an autopot res because I don't want to deal with biofouling if those tiny lines.

Remember, Mammoth P is just bacteria - it's not fertilizer. It's just bugs that really like chomping on Phosphorus ions and spitting them out in a form that's easier for plants to absorb.

I'm leary if putting bugs in my reservoir because they tend to want to build slimey colonies and plug things up. I use Mammoth P with my autopots, but I topfeed it so it doesn't end up in the valves etc

Autopot rez, Sorry if I was not clear. I want to make the P more bio available to the plants. I have bat gueno in the bottom (ala MedCzech) of the pot as well as biotabs for the P. I was wondering if anyone had tried adding it to the rez to attempt to keep the microbes spitting out that P available.

Archaic, good point on the slime risk! Scratch that idea. Do you mind sharing your approach with the top feed? times method etc? I have been shutting pots off until valve is dry and then top feeding with 1/2 a litre of water and .6ml of MP, occasionally some organatex if I am concerned about seeing some possible deficincies (but never more than once every few weeks). I have had some slight burning on the end of the fan leaves but nothing more than what I would have thought to be healthy in hydro! Slight burning on only one plant as well so I think she was perhaps just a little sensitive.

Prophetiko, I am hoping it will make the P in the autopot, more bioavailable. According to quite a few folks it works amazing organics as it is a beneficial bacteria and that is essentially the basis for organics building the soil and its microbes not the plant directly like with hydro. Generally I am weary of all additives as being gimicks however I have high hopes for this and think it should pair nicely with autopots.

That's a lot going on, lol. Be careful of phosphorus toxicity. Organic soil + bio tabs + mammoth p is a lot to account for. Bio tabs have microbes that break down organic matter to make more phosphorus available.. As well as time released phosphorus, with a value of 7. So that's 4 different sources of phosphorus if you include mammoth p. A phosphorus boost is most common in mid flower. If you're still in veg, be mindful of the P.

Nothing scientific, I just mix up a 16oz cup of dechlorinated water with a few drops of Mammoth P and hand water the girls about once per week. I'm just aiming to inoculate the soil with the bacteria and sustain the population in my media for the duration of the grow. I don't worry about their published dosage rates because measuring out bacteria doses is probably bullshit any way. Just create a happy environment for the bugs and let them do the work.

Very good point, so far everything is actually really really good. I think it should be ok as we are just increasing efficency and no sign of issues yet! Also I pulled my set up from a very accomplished grower, I guess we will know for sure over the next few weeks! But I will be sure to be cautios and I think you make a very valid point. Perhaps a bi weekly dose would be best and of course that is all dependent on growing the plant in front of you!

Ah, Good to know! I agree with you instincts on that and had wondered about it myself, Glad to know it is working for you.

Thanks a lot for your input guys, A little more caution as the grow progresses!
