I purchased mine from Easyhydro [http://stores.ebay.com/easyhydro/] on US Ebay for $87.99, as a Buy-it-now (fixed price) item, on Jan. 6, with free shipping. At the moment, it looks like they are selling the units for $104.98. [With Ebay indicating shipping from the same US city as Mars and Easyhydro only selling Mars stuff, Easyhydro could be Mars].

BII: cool, thanks man. fuck you got a good deal... nice.
i'll be looking either at this model then or the 600 for the summer, try it out for myself... hopefully find some discount then

one thing to maybe consider if you go with a Mars, their ebay site only gives 1 year warranty, direct from them is a 3 year warranty,

Keep in mind that there are probably containers full of Mars new models on the oceans enroute to US and Europe, with new models expected to be fully stocked and then settling down to their discount floor prices in coming months (as I recall reading here or some other group). Who knows what Mars will do with any of these way older models it still may have hanging around? The company could dump them on the market (or maybe they already did that recently with most), continue to sell them at about current prices (still competitive), or maybe even mark them up more as supply dwindles. There are likely some people who will continue to want an old 3-watt vs. newer 5-watt (e.g., Mars II) vs. the even newer technology coming (sounds like small-scale COBs with the new Mars lights).

Also, don't LEDs, particularly older technology, simply lose it with time, intensity goes down, they get "washed out," etc., such that they have a limited life of just a few years (of being near original specs)? What is the effective life-time for these old 300-watt units., e.g, when do they lose say 15%-20% intensity? Has anyone taken PAR and other readings from models used for years, and compared this to original results with the same unit?

LEDs have an usable life of well over 150,000 hours. they don't " get weak" like a light bulb of any kind does until the very end of there usable life, unless they are over driven. . the 50,000 hour figure most often quoted is very conservative for lights like the old style Mars unit, that under drives the LEDs. An HPS bulb is good for about 4,000 hours. If your buying good, eye Hortilux bulbs, your looking at $65 a bulb, so over the life span of an LED light, you'd buy 12 bulbs costing you $780.00 so even running watt equivalent LEDs, ( 600 watt HPS vs true 600 watts worth of LED ) you could save $500-600

I originally had 1 of these 300w lights and ended up getting a 2nd one. Now I have 2 in a 3x3x6 tent. I did have problems in my last grow but it wasn't anything to do with the lights. Evident by the fact that my current grow is the first one to be under both of them for it's whole life and it's the best plant I've ever grown. Though that's not saying much since it's barely my 3rd grow. Pics in sig if you are interested in checking it out.

I definitely think marshydro is awesome and affordable.

Reading waxi's post makes me think I wasted money on a 2nd light. Gawd I wish I could even manage 2 and a half oz per plant.

That wasn't a waste, Brother :) You now have a "real" 340-360 watts in that space, and ANY plant is going to thrive in there, with proper care! That's why I've just bought 2 more of the 450 watt Growstars... I'll be able to replace my HPS 1000w space heaters, and have more and better (for the plant's growth) light in the flower tent :) And, with 3 year warranties, they'll be around for a while, too!
There are a lot of other sites that trash Mars/TopLED/Growstar panels.. Its almost as if the only "car" you could drive is the Mercedes- Great car if you can afford one, but a Ford Focus'll get you there in good shape, too. I was happy to see a lot of folks here on AFN give them some respect. For the price, they're a great value, and they absolUTEly will grow great cannabis! Damn straight....lolol

I have a pair of 300 watt "old style" Mars units. I don't understand why there's so much Cal/Mag issue. I'm beginning to think its something about LED light and the type of nutes you use. I've had three grows now under mine and I've never had a cal/mag issue, and I use very little cal/mag on my plants, usually one dose in water at 90 ppms. I grow in organic soil with very little added rto it, usually just Grow More organic soil builder and or worm castings

As to yield under these lights. I got 5 ounces from my first grow under them, and that was after having problems with bad water! I see no reason a good grower with the right strain couldn't get 1 gram/watt

you got that right! Plants don't care if your light is a Rolls Royce or a Volkswagen, just give us some light!
