Lighting MarsHydro "Old model 100x3w"

A seemingly similar and credible (could be a competitor or just another Mars) model is now on Ebay for $86.39, Buy-it-now, delivered free (such as, in the U.S. from US-based stock), with 2 years warrantee (they'll send you parts). See http://www.ebay.com/itm/300W-LED-Gr...rum-for-Indoor-Greenhouse-Plants/151569517612.

From my perspective, by now even the lowliest of copy-cat Chinese LED factories can make a Mars 3x100-watt copy or equivalent, likely using much the same LEDs and other parts, and it will likely work just as well. It's not like the 3-watt LED lights are cutting edge high-tech any more. Now they're just commodity items being dumped on the market to make room for (hopefully in the case of Mars) even better, next generation products. Hopefully, in a few years, we'll comparably be seeing 5-watt technology coming to its end, with better technologies replacing it.

It's actually very awesome to hear that everyone has had good experiences with those lights.
They are the most affordable right now so that's great, that's what i was hoping for.

I have a pair of 300 watt "old style" Mars units. I don't understand why there's so much Cal/Mag issue. I'm beginning to think its something about LED light and the type of nutes you use. I've had three grows now under mine and I've never had a cal/mag issue, and I use very little cal/mag on my plants, usually one dose in water at 90 ppms. I grow in organic soil with very little added rto it, usually just Grow More organic soil builder and or worm castings

As to yield under these lights. I got 5 ounces from my first grow under them, and that was after having problems with bad water! I see no reason a good grower with the right strain couldn't get 1 gram/watt

I was terrified of calmag problems for my current grow. Led+coco! I haven't run into a single problem though. I added 2-4ml of calmag every feeding and it's been great.

I bought this same light about 3 months ago with a 3 yr. warranty. Nice and bright and just about silent. If I ever get my ass in gear and grow some with it, I'd buy another.

Heres 2 of em right here. I had only 1 and grew a northern light blue with a few branchs missing that still gave 104 dry gs. Check my link. Oh I had a few cfl too. I dont think the cfls make that much difference though.

That's very cool.
Great for one-2 plant per time perpetual grow i guess with good results with just one led, which i like the simplicity of.

Checked your journal pics too, looks awesome.
Did you find the need for a lot of cal-mag as in most led grows?

I think this Cal Mag issue is caused from all the Spectrums the Plants use instead of the Old Cfl/Mh/Hps Bulbs. Most Producers for Fertilizers and Soils aint mention this fact so if You aint mix Your own Propper Soil/Medium which is rich of Nutrients and Organics would end up in adding Cal/Mag.

I definitely love my marshydro 300w,I'm getting 2 more. I think they work just fine but they get plenty of hate in other forums but I don't see why.

I've heard that cal/mag issues come with led growing up your doses and you should be fine.

Better tech than anything the commercial companies make is available now if your into DIY. Lights based on Cree and Bridgelux COB LEDs are cranking out over 1000 PPFD! Look on youtube. some are getting close to 2g/watt!
Quite expensive to build but we all know that won't last when they start building commercial units.
I still use my Mars 100x3 lights to fill in the edges of the growspace that's not lit by the bigger lights.
