Grow Mediums MassMom's Ongoing AutocCob, AutoPot, AutoFlower Adventure :-)

Yes...during the winter I NEED the heat in my tent as where it sits is cold in the winter. but if i go into flower and have to turn on the fan it sucks all that precious heat out of the tent. to bad i couldnt somehow blow that filtered "non stinky" warm air BACK into the tent. Ahhhhh my ocd mind never stops. I drive myself crazy, ha ha!!!
Why couldn’t you do just that. If you have a 4 or 6 inch ducting coming out of your tent, couldn’t you loop it around a put it back into the tent on one of the lower ports? I’m not sure what affect that might have on the environment inside the tent but it certainly should be warmer. I have mine on a thermostat so the exhaust only comes on over 75°.

With the (2) cobs on now temps in tent are 75. But that is a great mcgyver thing to test out. I bet I could make it work! ha ha
Im having a poopy day. My ladies are not getting much bigger. bad genetics? to much water? I dont know what the hell I am doing?
:crying:
I am going to keep the poor things going and order some more seeds. lets see what happens, they may surprize me.

I do too. within 30 seconds of turning off the CFL and turning on a cob both ladies were standing up straight and tall. I am just concerned that they are still so small. Oh well, they are only 12 days old. I will keep things consistent and just see what happens. Also, I think my old water meter is broken. It reads almost dry even after I watered. It never waivers from that point. Hope I am not overwatering, ouch. I will get a new water meter tomorrow at the grow shop.

I think I may have figured out the problem...or at least ONE of them.:frowny:

When I lifted the pots I found a ton of water in their bases. I guess I over-watered them all along and they were sitting in their run off. The pots must weigh 5 pounds each....waterlogged!! So how can I dry them out a little? Should I put a little heater in there...or just leave them alone. Have I blown it? Poor babies.

I THOUGHT my water meter was broken, now I know it was. Freaking thing just kept reading dry so I kept watering. OMG.

I currently have the pots up on blocks in a drip tray letting them drain as much as they can.

:face: Bad Mom!!

I don’t put my pots in the trays until it’s time to turn on the res, but I’m not sure if that’s the norm. Im only on my second grow with them.. but it seemed to me that it made more sense to only use the tray when it was time to bottom feed.

Makes sense. I didnt even know the runoff was collecting down there~ I didnt know 1 liter would run through like that. I am usually a SOIL person, coco is so different. When you top feed how much do you feed at a time and do you get runoff?

They are still so small and light green. I dont want to pull them, but they are in rough shape. I might just gently dig them out and put them in solo cups and see what happens. I will go online and order some more beans tonight. What to order, so many choices!

So I took a deep breath and pulled the little girls. It almost broke my heart.
Oh Lordy...what a PATHETIC root system ...if you could even call it that. Spindle stems and a few white hairs.

:face:
Sigh. Sorry my babies. I will order a couple of seeds and try again.:oops1:

I grow in soil, and as far as how much water I don’t know I don’t measure it  aside from mixing up a gallon but from there I pour it into a solo cup to feed with. I only mix a gallon because it’s easier, not because I intend to use it all.

Only time I water to runoff is the last time I water before putting them on the res. And even then I water very slowly a little at a time over the course of about a half hour and I stop when I get the first little dribble of runoff out of the bottom of the pot.

I’m still figuring it all out myself. So take it with a grain of salt. As far as what to order, I’d say grab some Mephisto beans. They have a bunch on sale for the new year right now on their website. Fast shipping, generous freebies, and some of the best genetics around.

Freaking heck man... or I mean mom. I feel bad for recommending to use the meter and it failed like that. Never heard of that happening. But I did use my last one so much the tip broke off and I had to get another one. And I still strongly recommend it. I know people using it and it works for them. You're getting another one right?

It sounds like you're not happy with the current girls. Do you have a recent picture?
Nevermind, I see you pulled them already.

If it was me I would pop new ones since it so early on you don't lose much. And 3 months from now you'll probably end up with a better yield and better quality if the currently girls are not in good shape. Nevermind that again since u pulled them.

And you can use solo cups this time, along with a new meter. Sounds like the way to go. That part is still true!

And I'd choose Mephisto genetics. Most of their strains grow pretty fast too. If i lived in the US I'd send you some to help ease the pain of that recommendation!
