Size is more strain dependent than a breeder. Mephisto has a few small strains as well. Also what you have room for. I wasnt trying to grow the biggest plants I could, I don't have the room for that. So many factors from lighting to r/h, medium, nutrients, etc... If these were in coco or dwc they could be way bigger. Dont forget growing skill level. Smallest I've used is 2gal, but 5gal is perfect imo. Good size for growth, but not needing to water constantly like in 2gal. Stay lifted.

Hey, fair enough. How often do you water though? Just curious. I guess everyone gets to grow to their own style and schedule.

Back when I started growing, there was no info readily available and it was all a big test trying to follow some of the methods that some were using. Didn't take long to figure what worked, what didn't....my style and schedule was the simpliest...drop a seed in a gallon pot of miracle grow and check on weekends (grow was at a resort)...sure they'd dry out in 5 days but I grew lots of weed by doing so little.
Guess you can say I learned the most by doing nothing. Had to employ my best tool (patience) when I lived 70 miles from my grow!
Sure, over these years, I've refined everything. Also, 20 years of MS forces one to do it easy as possible....I once grew in a 20x16 room, 10-15 plants....now in a tent at home, harvesting 3 or 4 every two weeks.
I grow autos and photos together with 3-4 in veg and 3-4 in flower at all times...and have for 15 years. All are in 2-3 ltr pots of biobizz light mix.
Easy to feel weight but I always double check with a moisture meter. I do all feeding/watering in the early morning only (when lights come on). Only a full flowering plant sometimes needs daily watering. Being organic , I seldom water/feed to runoff.
Of course, I always wanted to grow in larger pots but with my success with small pots makes me quite proud of my simple ways.

Ya do what works for you and what space allows. You could grow everything in solo cups if you are dialed in. Thing is, seeds and set up aren’t cheap, so many folks want to get the most finished product . I currently have a 4AM going in a 3 gallon... wasted space for a small cultivar, and a Jammy Dodger in a one gallon that would have produced much more in more medium. Half the fun is changing it up!!

IME smaller pots grow bigger Mephisto plants. Just gotta water more. Not sure why don’t know the science. I’ve ran three gallons and one gallons side by side twice or thrice and for me the one gallons got much larger to the point the pots would tip over and stuff. Chemdogging baby

Thanks...now I don't feel so bad about not using larger pots!

1L pot? Wtf that's tiny. I know peeps do tiny grows but that's just for fun .

Edit: what I mean is that I grow at minimum in a 2gallo. ~ 8L pot. Anything else seems kinda small and needs allot of frequent watering.
I grew a bunch of different strains last Summer, but 6 of the strains were from Fastbuds and the recommendations for some were 3 gallon containers, 5 gallon containers and one recommended something like a 12 gallon container. I believe my best plants from Fastbuds came with 7 gallon containers.

With a 3 gallon container I had roots coming back out of the top of the soil and even with topping my plants got so large the container was unstable.

I had another breeders autos planted in about a gallon and a half container that ended up being such a small plants that I felt I wasted my time, only filling an 8 liquid ounce jar with what I harvested. I had much larger yields and quality buds with the larger containers.

I grew some in my two tents, but my state is legal for both medical and recreational and you are allowed to grow 12 plants, so I moved most of them outside during the longer Summer months figuring sunlight is better than grow lights. The 3 gallon felt pots I used on some plants needed to be watered twice a day when it was really hot, with long days. The 5, 7 and 11 gallon pots went three days usually.

I've got 5 photoperiod plants started in a tent now in 1 1/2 gallon and a 3 gallon pot currently so that when night time temperatures stop going down to 28 degrees and get around 40 degrees I can plant them straight into the ground. I have them outside during the day if it is in the high 40's or above to get them acclimated to outside conditions.

I'm going to pop some autos this weekend in 5 gallon pots which will spend the first month in a tent in my pole barn and then put them outside when night time temperatures stay above 50 degrees.

Alright guys thought I would start a thread giving information on mephistos freebies just received my order and was kindly gifted 2 free seeds labeled SS x DG
I think its sour stomper x double grape?????? But cant find any info on the strain

Any info appreciated and post your freebies and any information to help everyone out

here’s my ss x dg freebies, so far so good. This strain pretty much grow itself using promix organic soil along with 3ml per gallon of emerald harvest micros then 1/8 the recommended doses of GH flower deep into bud. I did add a bit of perliteat the beginning to help with drainage. That’s it !!!

I use 25 gallon pots at the house for photos and autos, indoors and out. They all do really good in the big grow bags. Some of them still stay on the smaller side as well if that is what their potential was.
