New Grower MmphsEazy"s First Grow !!! (Sweet Tooth/Auto Purple & Mystery Bagseed

Hi all and welcome to my first attempt at growing. started this grow New Years Day/Eve so by now im am a couple of weeks into it. So lets start things off by bring you up to date.


Seeds: Barney' Sweet Tooth Auto, Auto Purple (i'm guessing its Pyramid, it was a freebie) and a seed i got out of some ok smoke i had ( i'll just call it BS...hopefully it doesn't turn out that way but this was just tossed in for testing and to see if i could actually get anything growing)

Soil: local mix form hydro store (suppose to be same as or better than Happy Frog)

Lighting:6 23w 1600L 5000k cfl
i bought a six light fixture and put 6 y splitters in giving me a 12 light fixture. i will be adding 2700k and probably some t5's for side lighting

Grow Space : I started in a very small(tiny) closet but the temps were to high 90+ at times even got up to 100. so i move them to a bigger closet that im only using on side of. the space measures 3ftx3x6 to the shelf at the top and another 2+ ft above the shelf.

Ventilation: None really need help in this area!!! i have a small fan blowing inside the tent slightly across my babys and another fan outside the closet blowing through a crack in the door
((home made co2 connected to the fan inside)

Nutes: Flora Duo A&B,CaliMagic,Floralicious Plus, Grandmas Molasses and An PH dwn
( im also using distilled water)


ok now that you have and idea of what i have to work wit let talk about the kids.

12/12/13: BS above ground(Solo Cup) (2 days in paper towel)

1/1/14 AP & ST put in shot glass

1/2/15 AP& ST put in soil (Solo Cup)

1/4/14 AP & ST above ground

1/7/14 co2 installed

1/9/14 transplant AP & BS went in 1g and ST in 2gl air pot i know they are probably to small but 3g have not come yet form Ebay.

1/13/14 high temps close to 100 no humidity gauge yet

1/14/14 built new light and move to new home (temp 74- 82 Rh 28-31)

1/15/14 ST lower leaves look to be turning yellow

Plants have been given distilled water so far. Today will be the first feeding so any advice is definitely needed !!!!!

Hey great to see you here and welcome!

Honestly if your hydro store has soil that is very similar to Happy Frog I would wait on the feeding until next week or even the week after. I did my first feed for my AKR's at week 3.5 and they did appreciate it. BTW I am using Happy Frog and love it. I was just afraid of nute burn. I honestly do not know why that little leaf is yellowing, I am no expert by any means I am only on my first grow as well. Since this is your first grow they look healthy, just make sure to be weary of how much you are watering. I had a bunch of people who told me to just use a mister the first couple weeks of watering and thats what I did and it worked. At most I would use a solo cup to water. Less water is better! They can live through a drought EASY! but a flood can rip them apart. I only know this because I left mine for a week without water because of an emergency in the family and they were thriving when I got back home!

Thx for the reply MaryJane. do you think it will be ok to just feed distilled water with 1tbsp/gal will be ok for now? thatis what i've been gave the BS with a mild dose of the flora duo 2.5ml of A and 1ml of B to distilled water. dont know the ph since my meter has not arrived should be here monday, i checked the tracking. along with my 3g pots,koolbloom and root stimulator ( forgot the name)and ppm meter coming later next week Or should i just continue with just waite for the next week. these one gallons are getting lite

Hey mmphseasy. I concur with MMJA on holding off on feeding your autos for another few days. The reason I say this is all I have ever ran is HF for my seedlings. There are enough nutes in it to last a month.
If you must feed, please start out with very light amounts.

Remember, autos have a much shorter life span than photo plants, so you have less time for them to correct if you burn them with to much nutes.

Another vote for holding off a bit on nutrients. If your not going to use tap water I would suggest perhaps spring water instead. It would be less costly and easier to use. Distilled is hard to get a proper pH reading on, something about no or not enough ions. Also they may start to show cal/mag issues sooner with no minerals in the water at all. Just some of my thoughts, really I am no expert that's for sure!!
Ventilation... Odor control will become an issue, I know this because I am in the middle of that crisis right now and I thought I was prepared!!

thx for the reply and good vibes Stick and CGR .Sup wwwillie i knew i could count on a reply from you, you seem to always be around and willing to help.(got my light idea from you) i going to take the advice and hold off on the nutes for now. so your saying i should use tap water rather than distilled or just buy spring water? can i add molasses or is that considered a form of nute? i've read that some feed with every watering with or without nutes from seed.

Tap water is fine, but let it sit for 24 hours. My well water typically comes out of the tap at a PH level of 7.5+, but after just letting it sit for 24 hours it goes down to 6.5. If you are on a water system the chlorine also dissipates after 24 hours, but you will still want to check your PH ALWAYS.

Yes, molasses could be considered to be a nute/s. Primarily Calcium, sugars, but also has micro nutes in it.
