Hi guys

I wanted to know how do you keep a mother plant?

Gonna grow some phonos next time and want to keep one as a mother for later on.
I see people keep them for years. I would keep it in soil and wondered if it stays like that with just veg nuets and water or do you have to change the soil every......?
