They are looking stellar!

That is minimal damage for grasshoppers. I would not worry yet.

Unfortunately, I have a plague of grasshoppers. The last several years of heat and drought have really favored them.
I have them so bad, it really looks like something out of the Ten Commandments.
They are eating everything.
The war begins this week.
I hope you do not need it, but I do recommend these products –

Semaspore Bait - Semaspore Bait contains Nosema locustae, a naturally occurring grasshopper control. After eating Semaspore, grasshoppers become sick, eat less and begin to die. The disease spore spreads to healthy grasshoppers through cannibalism. OMRI Listed for use in organic production.

And I also recommend –
EcoBran Grasshopper Bait - EcoBran Grasshopper Bait is for growers that are experiencing grasshopper damage and require immediate control.
It is a bran bait that contains a low percentage (2%) of the chemical carbaryl (seven dust)
FYI- you can DIY a homemade recipe that is cheaper.

You can also eat them :D

I find devouring one's enemies to be the ultimate form of revenge, mua ha ha ha!

After all, the only way to kill a demon is to eat its heart :firedevil:

You eat grasshoppers piggy? I hear they are good BBq'ed....with BBQ sauce.

Name something that isn't :D

I've roasted some before to try, faint licorice and crunchy flavor. I don't have a limited palate, I'm willing to try anything once. Who knows what you're missing out on? I will say I don't have much of a sweet tooth, no candy for me.

Chocolate covered grasshoppers are not bad.

Try this if things turn south.

20lb Wheat Bran 2 Gallons Water
1 Qt. Cottonseed or Other Vegetable Oil 1 Qt. Molasses
1 Qt. Flowable (Liquid) Sevin or Sevin XLR Large Rubber or Metal Tub (For mixing)

Mixing Instructions:

1. Mix Molasses, Water and Vegetable Oil together in a suitable container (bucket, etc).
2. Add 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap to emulsify the oil and water mixture together.
3. Mix the liquid Sevin into the oil/water mixture, stirring well.
4. Slowly add the water mixture to the wheat bran in a tub or other suitable container and mix together. Allow this mixture to sit for 24 hours to allow the wheat bran to absorb the liquids.
5. Stir the bait after the soak period. Apply the bait in small piles around fruit trees, garden areas and other places where grasshoppers are causing problems.

Of course rubber gloves should be used at all times.

Why does it have to be liquid Sevin? Just curious... Does that bait work for any other leaf eaters? I have an abundance of grain Sevin. Thanks for the recipe, I saved it!

liquid Sevin is what I use to spray my plots a few weeks before using them...I mix it in a sprayer and just spray everything and everywhere....thank you kindly wg!!...your my people bro!!....:smokebuds:

Not to be a party pooper, but that stuff is SUPER toxic! Why would you use it around food?

I don't spray it on the plants brotha....nor do I use it after the plants are put out in the plots...I use it 2 weeks before I take plants to plots to get rid of most the pest that are there...I also do not plant, plants in the ground...one of the reasons I leave them in containers...and then the containers aren't even sitting on the ground...they are sitting up off the ground on logs...so i'm pretty sure that it's not contaminating the plants or the soil the plants are in.besides that...all the rain we have been having lately has most likely washed it all away by now anyways....it's only toxic if not used properly......:smokebuds:
