Perlite is a natural Amorphous Volcanic Glass which has a high water content, by heating this Volcanic glass the water held inside vaporises and escapes this process causes expansion of the perlite up to 16 times its original size.

I always do that. Every 3,4 days, to give oxygen to the roots , but I go deeper 2",3" depends how dry is the soil

I'll be testing this soon I bought one a couple months ago. I'll be using this method in a 15 gallon tote with organic soil. Haven't decided for sure what strain I want to run.

I do this, sometimes I also add fresh soil down the sides from time to time for a little extra nutes

also roots tend to grow more easier in a pot filled with lumpless soil, over them having to grow around soil lumps they can grow threw. It can take a it of time doing depending on your pot size. But in the end you gain a little extra soil out of it which isn't a bad thing at all.

Thanks for the tip brother! I never really thought about that at all. I was just watering slowly so it didnt happen. I think this will ease my frustrations on watering lol.

Great tip! I was thinking about this today but decided to not touch the dirt before watering, but I'll try it next time.

I cover the pot with clay pallets, 3-4 cm and if the soil is dry I water with a hand pressure pomp just to moist the top of soil. And by using fabric pots, if the water doesn't moist all the soil and it drips in the tray eventually it will be sucked back by the soil and in the end the soil will be all OK.
