I received a lot of useful advice on my first grow so I am going to chronicle my 2nd grow here and hopefully get more advice and better results this time. I am using a chest of drawers that has been converted into a grow box. The box has a dual frequency 300W CFL bulb, decent air flow and uses a Volvo pollen filter to kill the smell. I was impressed with how well the filter worked on the first grow and have installed a new one for this grow (they are about £10 on Ebay).

The larger plant at this stage is a Short Stuff Auto Assassin and the baby is a Sweet Seeds Cream Caramel that was planted a week after the Auto Assassin. Both were planted directly into John Innes seed sowing soil. The light is on a 18-6 timed cycle.

Today's question - I am collecting some of Mylar tomorrow and would appreciate comments on the best method to attach it to the inside of the grow box (I would prefer not to have to use glue). All comments appreciated... P9070009.jpgP9070010.jpgP9070011.jpg

i used a staple gun, some tacks and a little duct tape to put my mylar up

Good to see you back with another grow. I use double sided tape. Have mylar that has been up over 2 years now and has never come loose.

Another week into the 2nd grow

I stuck up some Mylar last weekend but was too mean with the double sided tape and the fan slowly undid my hard work! I will try again over the weekend. If my cabinet was not a customised chest of drawers I would be cursing the chippie for not using Mylar in the beginning - now that I see how many 3D corners have to be negotiated I am not that surprised.

These are today's photos taken 7 days after the last ones. Fantastic growth compared to how leggy they got in my first grow when I did not have the bulb ready. So, today's questions are:

  • I ignored ph balance the first time but am going to take more interest this time around. When people refer to testing the 'run off' do they mean watering enough to get liquid out of the botton of the plant pot and testing that water?
  • Once I have installed Mylar I will get more reflected light. With the better growth to height ratio on these babies a bit of 'low stress training' may be an option worth exploring - any thoughts.
Thanks, and enjoy the weekend and the Solstice next week

Yes to both... Looking sweet :peace: Hazy

Lol yeh mate there looking healthy so dont worry to much about the mylar youll sort it :wiz:

Yes, that's the procedure for checking the run off. And yes again on the LST if you've got height restrictions.

Another 5 days and some Floranova to feed?

The girls have not have enough love unfortunately, but are responding well and have had a good water today.

I have some Floranova nutrients waiting for when I commence feeding (grow and bloom) and plan on giving a diluted grow dose to the larger plant this weekend. If you have experience using these nutrients in soil I would appreciate your thoughts before I give the 'big girl' her first drink.
