New Grower My first grow ever!

Today is a great day as I finally got seeds into soil. :D Does that make this day 1, or is that when they poke their heads up? I had a bamboo skewer to poke a small hole into the soil about a half an inch deep, then I dropped a little seed in and wished her well. I did not feel that more water would be good as the soil still felt nice and moist, but not wet. I did not take any pictures since filling up more space with pictures of my soil and planters seemed excessive. However I will be anxiously waiting for them to peek their heads out of the soil and welcome them to the world. Then we get pictures! ;)

I did notice that my furnace room got down to 68 degrees and in turn pulled the inside of my tent down to 68 during the night cycle. I opened one of the access vent to the basement to raise the temperature of the whole area to combat this.

If anyone has any tips on how to keep from annoying your ladies by peeking in too much I would appreciate pointers!

I usually count mine from the day I put them in the soil. Since they don't all poke their heads at the same time, it's just easier for me to keep track of it from there.

Try and get your temps up a bit, especially for germination, 75 - 80 degrees. I use a heat mat in the winter, placed under the pots. Cold temperatures are a big factor in seeds not germinating.

Temps at the soil are pretty stable at 75 with the light on, it was just during the night that it drooped to 68. I have adjusted the vents in my tent to restrict some airflow in and dropped the lamp from 30 inches to 26 inches to warm up soil. I may have to look into a speed regulator for my fan. I do not have transportation to get to a grow shop or hardware store to pick one up. I did open a heating vent to the room my tent is in, I am hoping that it keeps the air outside my tent closer to 75 now.

goodluck with the grow minmatar.

day 1 should be when the seed pops out of the soil.

:jump: woop! :jump: woop! 3 of 6 came up today! Sorry about the lack of pictures but I am having camera issues tonight. I don't see anything that would make me worry that I need to get a picture of them asap so I will not panic. Maybe when I check them in the morning to take a few picture I will have 6 above the soil? Cross your fingers for a 6 seedling show in the AM!

Woke up today for a great treat, all six have germinated! I had to peel one husk off one seedling, and there was one that was not quite unfolded above the soil. The one that was not unfolded above the soil looked like a piece of pearlite in all the pics I had taken of it so I did not upload it.

The planters still felt like they had good weight to them, but it has been 5 days since I have drenched the soil. I had been slightly damping the surface to keep the seedlings working towards germination, but now I must learn when to water. I am still new at this so I have to learn to judge the weight of them.
Now my friends I give you, pictures! :D

Congrats on your sprouts~ Its like christmas morning when you find all your beans hatched and sprouted!

Thanks much, but I have never grown anything before. I am doing all this with information I have learned from lurking and reading things on this site. I really have never been into growing things, but I love nature so I am hoping that maybe there is a latent gardener hiding inside!

phoenix- I actually woke up 4 hours early because I was so excited to see if the last three were going to germinate too. I forced myself to go back to bed (after smoking a bowl) and leave them be, that was so hard!

Hazy- Thank you, but honestly I have little idea as to what I am doing. This is my first time growing anything and I will have to learn so many things that are just learned by experience. That being said it will be nice to have company along for the grow to help with "the wait."
