Now I decided to run some. At moment I have germed 1 and am going to transplant to coco while I sort the rest of my bubble bucket system out. I am not going to do anything special at moment, just grow it as best as can while I get my home made bubble bucket/ top drip setup made and sorted. Dont laugh on the 1 plant either, I am a mmmp patient, 12 plants are most I can have, Which is not my issue, but what is. 2.5 oz in possession. As this plant will finish near my blue cheese times. I am a bit worried of heavy overages.

Here is a picture of the 3 day old inside the the Nirvana prop kit. Laugh if you want, I got the thing darn near free and actually am quite impressed with it. I can say it is rather small, but seeing my space is relatively limited at the moment, it works flawless.

Would I recommend one? Depends, for my setup at moment, it is nice to have a self contained item taking up little space, providing light and humidity to the plant and allowing me time spent gathering items back up for this grow.View attachment 167980View attachment 167981

As you can see not a high end germ box, but for the cash layout spent am pretty happy.

Here is a shot of the seedling outside the prop kit. I was a bit leery as I have not begun to let the humidity lower yet, of bringing it out to photo shoot. A fast snap and back it went. I have the kit sitting in my hot water tank room fwiw.View attachment 167982
I plan on 2 days setting this in a 3 gal pot and under a fluro. When ready a 400 watt lamp. Time will tell.

For the rest of what I am up to keep an eye out in the dyi, I will post up a bubble bucket/ drip feed system that cost bout nothing to make. At moment testing it with some photo blue cheese. As well debating where I am placing lines and such.

My ebb and flow took up so much space, and at moment cant afford that space gone, so this system will fit in what I am planing out. 8 bubble buckets allowing a 1 plant a week harvest. Plenty to keep me in meds, and share with a few friends.

Currently I am not even phing the water, I careless on the ph. I am worried of over flooding. I am feeding them 1/4 strength gh on lucas method though.

My ph meter took a shit, and I keep forgetting grab one when at the hydro store. So the cheese will have to suffer a bit longer till I remember.

Anyways back to the Short Rider. I caught their seeds on sale and as well free shipping. Where could I go wrong testing an auto? I look forward to seeing what happens with this one, as well as planning to order up some big devils think dirrent and auto ak 48's as well. each month i place 50 hard earned bones in a jar for seeds. and 30 for grow equip. So far i am well inside the budget : ).

So plant is in second day of coco mix. The nirvana kit is lending itself as a humidity dome and lighting in the pot.
Water ph even without meter was spot on 5.8. Thank god for test vials.
New meter now in possession, next week I am picking up another just so I have a spare on hand.

Photo's - They weren't fading due to ph : ), they were fading on weak nute. As they were rooted a week prior, and I just got em, They lacked alot of nutes. i been running 1/4 strength and seen slight improvemnt, upped it to 1/2 strength. Seeing major improvement.

Top feed system. Definitely need larger pump when 2 more buckets are added. 196 is providing a great contious flow for 2, but when I expand system, its going need more as I am heading for drip.

Nothing else report no real pictures to take at moment. Everything running so smooth I get to sleep more.

Good bye ebb and flow shortly.

This damn Short rider is a leggy plant. I buried the root/stem and was about 1/2 inch from top of coco. Today I about fell over. I am already an inch above the coco. Will post a picture later. Unbelievable how much it stalk grew in height over night. I know its an auto and such, but I sure hope the stalk starts behaving and the first leaves start popping in. Pictures to follow in a couple days. maybe later tonight if I get time.

Here is the short rider in the make shift humidity dome. I was wrong on height I buried her at. I double checker my measurements. She was 1/4 inch off the coco. Definitely not anymore she is growing skyward for sure..

O.K only other thing I have to report, coco loves to dry out fast, as its a 3 gallon pot, I have so far added 4 cups of water in last 2 days since soaking it and placing plant. I am debating at this point running a couple wicks in from the bottom. I have a speedo cable and am damn good at using it, to pull the wicks in should a decide to. Years of working for a radio repair and install center for motorola helped there.

One thing I want to talk about real fast is my germ technique.

I cut the bottoms off root riot plug so the stand straight up and down.
Then I cut plug in two so I can insert seed. and tape the hole shut if it flaps.

Using this method I am guaranteed a bare root seedling as long as it dont grow into the plug before I get it removed, If that happens I just just use a needle and thread to close it back.

2 things to note. If you bare root t-plant to medium, hole has to be big enough to accept the seedling and be careful not to injury it when placing in whole
Also dont screw around getting plant in medium. Have pot with medium already soaked, pull seedling and place in hole, tamp soil and done. You must not have anything to stop the process once began.

I use this method so I don't have a root riot cube to screw with or peat as well. I hate plants sticking in paper towel as well.

One note, try it with bag seed before using an auto seed as they cost to much to damage if you screw up.

BTW if pictures are screwie let me know. I use a Samsung galaxy note to access internet and take photos, so they may not appear right to others.

Why thanks. I will be sure post up any major changes or detrimental results.
As its my first auto never know what may pop up. certain photo strains
I know inside out others I don't. Never growing an auto and picking this as a first,
I guarantee nothing. But certainly will pass any knowledge i gain or have through the grow.

Best of luck...

And hey, don't be embarrassed about your seed starter...I got two from Sannie's a few years back as a Christmas present, they rock! :D

Ok, before I toss up an update. let me say the little prop light from Nirvana is alot like Sannies. This said both pieces even though small are designed to germ seeds and help support it for a bit. This said, I have no embarrassment getting mine. It cost me shipping only when I got it, and shipping was free if you used their code. If I could have supported 100 seed buys, I would have got 100 of these. Now the leds are tiny lil bitches, but they work for what meant to do. Just dont think your going to do a micro grow with the kit.
I wouldnt however spend any money out of pocket for these, unless I needed something small. As demonstrated they work great as lighted humidity domes as well.
They could germ 12 seeds or so at once easily if need be.

Now unto the update

I am sorry to report that this thread is dead. I was away from home 32 hrs and somewhere in the mix, the fan to my furnace decided to quit working. This said I have several popsicles that were plants. and nute bottles and such that froze solid as well.

I had by miracle 1 plant survive. A friend had just gifted me a kb, and I was space confined a bit, so it was sitting in my little room I have with the hot water tank. Same room I germ I in. Well its a good thing I had taken the time to build a true door and casing for it, or It woulda froze as well.

Total damages to date from freezing
1 ego
1 5 gallon bucket, 1 netpot.
2 water pumps
1 6 x 12 carpet
5 photos in flower
3 photos vegging
1 Shortrider
1 600 watt ballast.
Not sure on ballast, worked and was working till freeze.

I am pondering if any of these items are any good

Nutes - over 9 gallons worth
Ph meter - brand new froze solid to lid
ph meter solutions.

On a side note. I had the gifted plant sitting in my truck to keep it warm while repair to furnace fan and reheating house took effect.

As soon as house temps stablize, I am cracking 2 new Short rider seeds and starting over. The dyi on the buckets is delayed till I decide to replace pumps. I picked up some teens tonight to replace what I lost in flower.
