DIY my plans for fan & filter

ive just started making a ducted fan as a cheap back up, ive put a 7" motorbike rad fan inbetween 2x 10" buckets with 5" intake hole one end & 6" out, conected a golf trolly speed controller & fired it up, it chucks out more air than my 42cc petrol leaf blower. bit noisy so this will be put in bigger buckets prob 14" & the gap filled with expanding foam.

The filter will also be made of drilled buckets one inside the other, cooker hood filters as a lining & carbon between that.

Has anyone used Zeolite instead of carbon?

Zeolite is used for liquid filtration and won't do crap to filter the air :thumbs:

update on my diy fan, it sucks so hard on full power its just riped my cheap plastic duct & sucked it into the bucket. HeHe.. ive not had this much fun since i was moding my 1976 RD250 2stroke which did 3s 0>60s.
I luv this diy stuff

LOL that sounds awesome ... I had an RD250 LC back in the day and later the 350 Power Valve (not as much fun as the earlier RDs but still had lots of laughs on it)

Lol, I was more a FS1E boy! Modding it with big bore kits and bigger jets in the carb. was forever seizing through overheating

I use zeolite in my aquarium filtration but I have never tried in for plants. Its not very porous or at least what I have used. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Bucket fan still lives & seems to work well, has been working for 5 wks non stop, its not very noisy about 20db on min setting & 35-40db on highist + it only cost me £5 to make (£4 expanding foam, £1 morrisons flower buckets, everything else i allready had). not sure what bike the fan came from, the speed controller came from a golf bag trolly & is happy running anything from 12v to 24v 3-6 amps(12v 3amp for this project), the power supply is a standard 13.8v 3-6 amp used for cb radios. im now looking into conecting a temp/moist sensor to the speed controller, so that it will self adjust.
