New Grower Mycorrhizae

Torched- What is your source? Not calling you out. Just have never heard of avoiding Trichoderma? As all the major reputable brands have them in it. IE. Advance Nut. Green planet, Aoura Innovations/roots organic and great white shark even some promixs(not listed but in it)?

Since I am not dusting off my microbiology books quick C&P rebuttal: I know it's wiki but it is also common knowledge.
Trichoderma is a genus of fungi that is present in all soils, where they are the most prevalent culturable fungi. Many species in this genus can be characterized as opportunistic avirulent plant symbionts.[SUP][1][/SUP] This refers to the ability of several Trichoderma species to form mutualistic endophytic relationships with several plant species
----------------------
Several strains of Trichoderma have been developed as biocontrol agents against fungal diseases of plants.[SUP][5][/SUP] The various mechanisms include antibiosis, parasitism, inducing host-plant resistance, and competition. Most biocontrol agents are from the species T. harzianum,T. viride and T. hamatum. The biocontrol agent generally grows in its natural habitat on the root surface, and so affects root disease in particular, but can also be effective against foliar diseases.

ME:
In layman terms the trichs. consume older damaged bacteria(found in old plant life I.e bark etc) and form on the root system thus greatly excelling the overall plant and root health. If the older bacteria didnt die off then there would be a event called a peak in which all life dies do to no resources. Trichs keep the balance till they consume all the others.Dropping the population to manageable numbers until either more is mircolife is added and they spike again or you add more of their food source so they can re populate their environment and repeat the cycle(approx 2 weeks w/ varying factors). Check and balances in other words meaning they are not there to be friends with the other bacteria or fungi they are your plants friends in symbiosis.

He is right tho! Check the labels I forgot to add the part about some are specifically for conifer trees and shrubs. Wont really work with Mary.

Bac or Sannies Mycos i used in past grows. Worked but go full Organic then i tried it once together with Gh Powderfeed as Ferts and it didnt work out as good as with the Bio Bizz series.

I'm just looking for a brand name ... I used Extreme Gardening Mykos in the past and liked it but read that it's supposed to be one of the worst on the market ... Picked up some fungi from Israel last year that seems to work but I'm looking for more so I thought I'd see what brands y'all prefer ... Thanks for the input ...

I don't know that I have a source it's been general knowledge to me for a bit now. I would point out the above excerpt, Trich is eating other fungi (Mycos) not bacteria and the fact that it is easy to culture is because it out competes the other Mycos.

That being said I am aware there are numerous studies about the benefits of Trich. I was letting people know that if they are adding Trich they are reducing the diversity of their fungal microbiome and paying for extra Mycos that the Trich is eating. I personally only add Trich if there is a soil fungal issue I am trying to combat.

Yes I understand your point, not to introduce something that is gonna eat the others waste of $ (depending on strain of tric(89 diff.). But that is exactly what you want because they live on the actual root structure and is that not the point of adding Microorganisms in the 1st place? To build better faster stronger healthy roots?

Yes you "lose" some but for maybe a few days (if you dont feed them), would the risk of root rot or contaminated soil (Fox Fam,Blackgold) any other thing go wrong. a worth while risk to your babys just because you didnt want natures anti-bacteria do its job?
That is like killing batman, because he was going around "assaulting people"....

I really dont see a bad side, its nature at it finest. But I wont argue your experience, we both have our own background experiences so I say :Sharing One:

The various types of Mycos imparts all the same benefits, that trics do. Most studies have been on Tric because it is easy to culture individually. Where Mycos is more difficult to culture and there are too many to single out for study. :peace:
