Grow Mediums Need advice! 250w HPS Hydro Grow

Hey everyone,

New to AF forums although have been lurking a while.
I am planning on starting a grow next week in my closet.

I was hoping someone could help me with the following as I am a noob to autos and hydro:
•Easiest hydro set up for small space with little maintinance
•Fast finishing auto strain with a relatively good yield
•Lighting times with a 250w HPS

Autos love 20 on / 4 off. That light will throw off a lot of heat. Make sure you compensate.

How fast is fast? Most will take about 70 days, regardless of the marketing hype. AutoMazar puts up stellar yields. Seems like the Afghan Kush crosses finish fast and yield well. Check out the smoke reports on this site. Also, check out seedfinder.uk:check:

not sure if u want all methods of hydro or just dwc but hempy buckets are super easy to grow in u may want to check those out. and there pretty easily setup up.

Ya 70 days is more than fast enough! Will check out the hempy buckets although on a bit of a budget so was hoping to try some kind of simple diy set up.

Ok just checked them out and I see they are the cheapest diy set up possible!!
Anyone know from experience wheter a dwc system will yield more and faster?

i think dwc will yield more than hempy. but it`s takes a lot more to control it... need to have control over the ph
Hempy is more forgiving i think.
Small strains as lowrider finish faster but smaller yield.
if she get feed right. she will be happy. and the yield is bigger
if she get feed wrong. she will punish you asap. less yield.
That said.
I never used hempy but think it is a good way to start, growing passive hydro.Im setting up a fried with hempy tomorrow.. and he is firstimer.
250w hps can give u a good yeild.
Im only using 100w hps and my best yeild in soil was 56 grams 4 plants.

hey there fatcat welcome to AFN swing by the intro thread and say high to the folks so we can greet you...I would suggest slowing down a bit, picking out two DWC grows and two hempy grows and follow along and see which would be best system for you. by following the grows you can see what to expect for maintenance, feeding, lighting ect. I have to agree with Ksj hempy will be easiest but not a productive as DWC.... also don't germ a seed until your setup 100% ready, read my sig.

hey fatcat i've been using hempys for little over a year. my method is just to go as easy as possible. i use 100% perlite in my hempy buckets and i use maxibloom for nutes. all i do to take care of my plants is dump a scoop per gal and water til i see some runoff every 3 days. i dont ph my water anymore since i know one scoop of maxi puts my ph into perfect range for hempys. easy as that. sometime ifeel froggy and will put a heaping scoop per gal lol. but thats it. doesnt get much easier.
