Harvest & Curing Need advice on drying space setup

I’m not too far from my first small harvest (from my outdoor garden) in a very long time but I’m getting concerned about odor. My indoor grow (with only 4 plants) has already generated some scent that’s detectable in the building. So, I have a big Phresh filter and a Hyper Fan arriving Monday. That’s got my thinking, and concerned, about the odor from dying my outdoor plants. So, I’m looking for advice on how to set something up to control the odor. I’m hesitant to use Ona where the drying buds are exposed because I’ve heard it can decrease quality and flavor.

I considered using a cardboard wardrobe box and connecting a 4” fan and charcoal filter to it. But I’m not sure that the wardrobe box would contain the odor, even with the fan attached; and I don’t know whether duct taping the fan into a box would be a big PITA or work well. So, I thought maybe I’d invest in a 48”x24”x60” Vivosun grow tent ($65) and hang a drying rack inside. That’d give me a small tent that I could use for starting seeds or clones for the outdoor garden or the main room and, at harvest time, have a dedicated space with a fan/filter setup. I have a 4 bulb 4’ T5 fixture that’d fit in there perfectly! Lol.

Is this a good plan or would the cardboard box be better for some reason? What would you suggest to be able to dry a harvest without odor escaping the room?

FWIW- the room that houses my indoor grow and where I will be drying is climate controlled to ~73°F and approx 40% RH on an average day.

I like the idea of a smaller separate tent, you then could just connect the two with ducting to help eliminate the smell with your carbon filter/fan.

I wasn’t sure if that’d work - connecting the two, I mean. But, that’d be awesome because I got a 8” fan and filter capable of 710cfm and my tent is only 175cuft. So I have plenty of CFM; even losing some to the connection. Would I just run an open ended duct from the small tent into the big tent and, then, attach it to the big filter in the big tent and then to the fan and out? Basically all in a straight line? Or, would I connect the 2 tents using (lets just say) 4” and then run my 8” filter and fan as normal, venting outside the tent; and relying on negative air pressure in the grow tent to suck air from the drying tent?

I’ve never set anything like this up before. Are the filters open(able) on both ends; or are they factory closed on one end? If you can attach to both ends of the filter, how would having an open end (from the drying tent) effect the suction of air through the filter media in the filter? I would think a setup like that wouldn’t pull much air out of the main grow tent- taking the easier path of sucking the unobstructed air from the drying tent. No? I’m thinking that, unless I used 2 filters I’d have to just have a passive connection between the two tents and filter just the air pulling from the large grow tent. In that case, though, I don’t know if enough air would be pulled through that passive connection to effectively remove the odor from the drying bud.

Sorry to ramble on. Just trying to figure out HOW to connect the two tents and whether I could get away with only one filter?

Connect the 2 tents using 4”/6" ducting and then run 8” filter and fan as normal, venting outside the tent; and relying on negative air pressure in the grow tent to suck air from the drying tent is what I'd do. I know just my 6" filter/fan on low setting creates lots of negative pressure even with my vent flaps open. You can see the sides being drawn in.
