Hi all,

Self explained title here;

I've used a 600w hps before, that was great. But way too hot for what I can do.

I then bought x 2 viparspecrta LED 225w lights. 90quid for the paid. They've given good results but to be honest, my plants have taken way too long for what they should and I know it's the lights.

I'm upgrading again as I've saved a few quid.

I'm looking to spend up too £200 on an LED. I'm only growing 1/2 plants a time in a 80x80x160cm tent.

I've looked at AUTO cobs; but with no real experience I need some advice

Any will be invaluable in buying the right ones

Thanks!!!

Autocobs from www.cobshop.net will do you right. I switched from my mass built led lights to the 3500K cobs and couldn't be happier. Low heat, no noise, small and easy to move, low electrical draw and better health. Normally I use one cob with reflector for one plant. Right now I am testing two cobs, no reflectors, for three plants. They are doing very well. I own 4 cobs at the moment.

I've looked at Big Smo's and seen the results of people using his products but I'm in the UK.. As I would just (after experience) buy from someone trusted - which is what I'm doing in research on the brands out there.

I can't do DIY, not yet at least.

Prakasa ones look the best I've seen so far though..

I'm actully in the same boat as you mate, im looking to upgrade to cobs but they are extremely expensive to buy in the UK. I've also seen the prakasa ones but they don't actully have any reputation so i worry about investing in them :/ I think I may be forced to learn how to DIY them myself lol

COB's arent that expensive compared to finished LED lights. Also u get your money back on the long way in terms of efficiency. Also it doesnt take that much knowledge to get them running.

I am from germany and i can tell you that even after buying the parts from the US and paying a lot for shipping and import taxes it was cheaper than buying a complete light from the store.
Just dont buy at first sight, take your time to compare parts and prices. Write emails to distributers and ask for cheaper ways of shipping for a longer shipping time and so on. There are many ways to reduce the costs of a build.
