Hello to all Af community. Firstly would like to point out how much beautiful this community is and how lucky i feel i discovered this forum.

I am about to start my first grow. I have spent days and nights reading a lot about the process and i think i am ready To go. Just have 2 questions.

1) I know a 600 hps should be use in a grow room of 1.20x1.20x2.00. BUT I will be using 2x600 Hps in a grow room size of 1.20x1.20x2 in order to double the yield with 10 plants in 11lt airport OR is it better in a grow tent 2x2x2 with 20 plants of 11lt pots. Which one is most probably to give me more yield??

2) Is it any led lights that can come up with better results according to yield instead of the 600 hps ? Budged is not a problem for buying a led light in such a case.

Thank you in advance !!

Welcome to AFN. Drop by our Introduction forum, start a thread and introduce yourself to everyone.

I assume you're talking meters, so roughly a 16 square foot area for your 1.2 x 1.2 room. (1.2 meters = 3.94 feet. 3.94 x 3.94 = 15.5 square feet) The rule of thumb for HPS lights is 50 watts per square foot in veg and 60 in flower. So to effectively light 16 square feet you would need 960 watts of HPS lighting so your two 600 watters are more than enough. However, without good ventilation, the use of cool tube reflectors hooked to their own exhaust and quite probably an air conditioning unit it may be very hard to control the heat. HPS lights run very hot. The same math applies to LEDs, you would still need around 900 - 1000 watts of LEDs to effectively light that area. The biggest benefit to using LEDs would be reduced heat. If you decide to go with LEDs I would recommend 4 smaller ones as opposed to 1 or 2 larger ones. You'll get better coverage plus the added benefit of being able to raise and lower them independently to better light plants of varying size. Four 300 watt LEDs with an actual draw in the 250 - 260 range would work well. Check our LED forum for reviews and recommendations on LED lights.

Hello
Thank you for your replies !! Yes its meters.

So basically a room of 1.20x1.20 needs 960watt of hps ??

regarding the heat i will use seperate fun for the carbon filter and another one for the balasts where i will extract the heat of the lights outside the room

Yes, 960 watts. If you can, try and vent the lights outside the room as well. Keep that heat out of your grow area. Also locate your ballasts outside of the grow area as well. Ballasts also put off a lot of heat.

Thank you very much for your answers and help. So wouldnt be better i use a 1000 hps light in the 1.20x1.20 instead of 2x600 ? Is the extra light going to be waste or give more yield ?
