Harvest & Curing Need some enlightenment on harvest times

I have read on here a hundred times about when to harvest. Majority of that time i read about 20% amber is a good average.

Well yesterday I was reading growweedeasy.com. and they were talking about harvesting before amber for the best results.

So i started reading around and found majority of growers harvest after 50/50 cloudy/clear aiming for 70% cloudy.

So whats the deal? Does this have anything to do with them being Autoflowers?

I know it has a lot to do with personal preference buy why so different between auto and photo?

I checked out my easy ryder yesterday morning and i was easily at 20% amber 2 days before i found 1 after looking at her for over an hour. I have a sugar black rose that is about 50/50 cloudy,clear. The main cola is 70%+ cloudy. SO I was considering chopping her tonight.

Hi FI,

It really all depends on how you like your smoke! I would suggest, before chopping it all down to take a small bud from the top and the bottom, let them dry....and have a smoke. see how it tastes and if you like the high it gives you. if you think the top is a better stone for your needs and the bottom is not to your liking, then harvest the top half, and let the rest go until it is to your liking!

It really all depends on how you like your smoke! I did take a sample and i liked it. Did not think to take one from the top and the bottom that makes sense though. Thank you for your answer. But do you know why one side of the fence says no amber and the other say yes to amber

Personal preference I guess. If it is a nice high and you liked it how it is then flush, and chop her. This is my opinion and only that, its really your plant, your decision !

did ya chop em? it really makes a difference in the final product along with the potency of the high as well.those terps n oils need to be mature.a lot of ppl talk about amber and cloudy but Ive not heard a single person talk about the stages of cloudy really.there are three imo.early mostly clear n cloudy.half lightly cloudy and the rest deeper and then you have full on deep white.which for the non ambering auto is what your looking for.also the cured smoke will be affected by the lack of terps n oils that are mature.but if you like a pre full on cloudy buzz thats fine bro,problem is is that your smoke might not cure up as nice.ive always had issues with that early on in my growing.grew and dried excellent but the full cure would take forever IF it even showed up at all.but if you want cloudy dont get fooled by a lot of places telling you oh cloudy and some clear n this n that.if you want cloudy man just wait til many to most are fully white and then you'll have better smoke as well as a better chance to nail a cure since them oils n things matured will really really help you out.but thats what ive done and it always works for me anyway.I harvest mine anywhere from full white to amber bud completely LOL! i personally never have many clear trics at all.i awlays kinda make a point of it LOL!

unless its personal thing man,I really wouldnt take them while theyre clear even at 20%.but thats me. Id personally go for fully cloudy/white and less than 5-10% clear.and if you have a sativa dom or straight up Sati plant Id go full on white.but not DEEp white.just wait a lil longer.thats my opinion man.hope it turns out for ya dude.

I just took the main cola. I, going to let the rest go until mostly amber. On my easy ryder it was a good 20% amber on majority of the buds. The main cola was a good 40% amber. The 20% or lower amber buds still had clear about 20%. So I have several different levels of maturity. I separated into three different piles by looking through the microscope. I will keep them separate through out the whole drying/curing process. I'm bound and determined to learn how to get the most out of my smoke.

Do you harvest the whole plant at one time? Or do you chop the branches when that particular bud has the look you are going for? I see most people take down the whole plant at one time. I assume they do that to make room for the next lady. It is starting to make sense to me now. I should pick my buds like I pick my vegetables only when they are as ripe as I like them.

oh ok cool man,so yer well into maturity then.sweet!should be nice n tender for ya.I typically only do partial harvests with Photos since typically the shock aint as great some of the time,since it can at times reallly slow it down in some plants.But when I chop I always take the whole plant with an auto especially.Drying I cut the main cola off IF its good sized down past the third or second tri section.then the plant is in two pieces.but those are with bigger autos.and its easier to trim that way LOL!

but ive taken partial harvests from a few buds or lowers but usually just make sure there are some ambers on the lowers or really deep white atleast on the lowers as well n then I usually get a solid cure,dry and mature terp stench LOL!
