People seem really focused of the consumption when it's the output that's the most important to are plants....pounds per watts consumed should be ignored although consumption is important to look at it's the quality of the components and the output we should really compare to other units and there cost.

Agree Tang. And if u Mind what u Pay e.g. in a Coffeshop for a Gramm of your Strain that you grow and you count the Price of that dry weight u Archive, u aint complain bout few Pounds/Euros/Dollars for Energy or expensive Beans/Eq and so on. At the end u still on the Money Saving side ;)

So is the famous/infamous target of a gram per watt based on true watts or output watts for LED's?

Great point GPW comparisons are a good way to gauge a lights efficiency and it would be the watts consumed, the output will be measured in radiometric power I imagine. The point I'm trying to make is don't focus on the watts used v the cost because this light will perform as well as bigger lights....trust me you won't be buying an EBay 75w UFO here lol.

Notice I mentioned 330 pounds minus the VAT (we don't pay VAT in Canada, or anywhere outside the EC for that matter)

Got this directly from the site "our retail prices include 20% VAT which is only applicable in the EC"

Quite pricey, I'd be curious to see the actual draw on them once they come out and some light readings

You can tell me about the quality etc, blah, blah, blah. Its still way over priced. I have nothing against paying a fair price for a quality product, but this is utterly ridiculous! I'd be willing to pay double the price I payed for my chinese units to get a higher quality. I wouldn't pay 3 times that amount for half the power! Come on, I know they have a good product but paying $480 for a 75 watt ( ooooh its 180 equivalent... ) is nuts. My generic unit cost me $129 shipped for a 185 watt ( 300 equivalent ). I'd willingly pay $300 for this light, if it had a bit higher quality ( nothing wrong with it at all, its well made actually ). I understand about " binning" too, I've looked at buying 1st bin LEDs to build my own lights. They cost about 25-30% more. Paying more for quality parts makes sense as your likely to get a longer life from your investment. Paying TOO much for the same thing makes no sense to me and sooner or later, their pricing is going to bite them on the ass!

Don't get me wrong bro your totally entitled to you opinion but you shouldn't make such a harsh judgement without really knowing about the unit it's performance and the components used.

The price is steep but people buy BMWs every day when a Kia or Ford will get them from point A to point B for a lot less money. With their pricing model GN is definitely not for everyone, but it seems they are not trying to be. Top of line for those who want the ultimate quality and are willing to pay for it.
