Lighting new GN Units

i cant get 1 lol, they told me in my tent i need 6 :S damn id find it hard tyo buy 1 pannel and if i did it wudnt do much on its own is the idea am gettin here :S jusxt dont seem to make sence to me to make it smaller, and the need for more units i know it works better liek for spread but damn wtf? i need to spend a grand odd to replace my 3 pannels i payed 600 for and it wil be better ? im lost with this lol

it's only the unit it's self and the power consumption that's shrunk bro the output will match or better there most powerful light to date the MS0006, don't get me wrong you will get a cheaper light made in China that will do the same job but it won't be anywhere near as energy efficient and have the same build quality and components.

i was chatting to Dan at GN yesterday about the Luxeon Zs,I will post a snippet shortly after I've had me muesli lol.

I think it's great that they have made them smaller, not only does it work better but it means you don't have to fork out a thousand quid if you only want to do a small grow. Look at budmaster, their smallest light using the new Osram diodes costs over 800! I know it might cost a lot to cover a larger area but it will be worth it, if not this generation then at some point. We should think ourselves lucky that we have people willing to test them out and show us the results on this forum so we who are less experienced don't make blunderous purchases time after time.

150w is actually a massive amount of power in reality, 150w of 100% PAR would obliterate a 1000w HID light theoretically, The amount of power wasted in heat let alone spectrum is massive. Diode technology has had some major breakthroughs fairly recently, I've been reading that some new diodes achieve a little greater than 100% efficiency for the electrical energy input! This sounds like its breaking the laws of physics... It's not! These special LEDs source heat from their surroundings and output it as light. I have no idea whether this is used in the LEDs in these grow lights, but you can see how you could get close to 100% efficiency of 100% PAR with the right spectrum, or even slightly greater in hot climates!

Dude you know you don't have to fill out your tent right away, you could just start with a couple and add one or two each grow to replace your existing lights bit by bit? GN do free delivery no? So it wouldn't cost you any extra.

GNs response when asked if the new light will use Luxeon Zs....

"The luxeon z is a newer package designed to lower the bom of luminaires through a cheaper led package and multiple chips under one optic. This also helps to build high power density arrays and to improve colour mixing and colimation- it was considered for this unit However the luxeon z is considrebly less efficient than the rebel in the deep red and the white and blue rebel es aswell as a loww efficieny with the use of secondary optics through the lack of a primary dome we may use it for other products in the future though"

Looking forward to this :D

My thoughts exactly ! I have 3 perfectly good LEDs that produce more than enough for my consumption needs.

I will still get a new GN LED, lower power draw with more energy efficient diodes and quieter , as time goes on I would buy more after initial tests went well.

What would I do with my current lights if I replaced them all with the new GN LED? Keep them as spares, give them to friends who don't grow but really should (for a percentage of their first grow), use them to start my chillies, use for mother and cuttings with photo's. Personally I wont sell them on Ebay i'll find a use for them or a good home.

Yeah man I wouldn't get rid of products like these when times are turbulent, you never know what's round the corner. Things are looking good but the market is unpredictable and the ms0006 seems like a proven product from what I keep hearing, hope it lives up to expectation! I'm sure it will!

And they're not called rebels lol... Luxe on rebel Makes you sound like a character from Star Wars battling against the empire lol!

So these new units not out yet? I swear it was suppose to be july or something lol?
