Hi I've started my grow a week and half - 2 weeks ago and this is where im at. I've been watering pretty lightly with a spray bottle just sparying the top of the soil a few times. i have 2 spray bottles one with just water i let sit for a day and one with a Super thrive mix

anyways i saw the bottom two leaves start drooping today with very very light yellow tinge on the very tip of the leaves.

from what i gather its a water problem either to heavy or too light.

right now its dry on the top and about an inch or 2 down but like i said I've water it almost every day and once with the super thrive.

maybe im feeding it too little each time?? (light spray each feeding as im afraid to drown her.)

Decided to go ahead and water her. what i did was take a cheap 2 dollar spray bottle and clicked it 4 times in full. then took a similar bottle with the super thrive mix and clicked it twice.

i'm still afraid as they are so young about drowning but i may be to paranoid and under feed the shit out of them.

can anybody tell me how much water i should be using at this stage based on the pictures? like cup wise.

Mornin' FS

I'm new at this as well - learning as I go from the accumulated experience that reps this site.

From what I've garnered, seedlings shouldn't require much in the way of nutes for their first bit above ground - as they should be able to pull what they need from the soil.

Whats soil mix did you go with - as that may shed some light on whether she may be getting enough in the way of nutrients, without requiring supplemental feeding?

I believe - and someone with experience with "Super Thrive" will surely chime in here - that seedlings should be fine with PH balanced water until they reach the fourth node, approximately.

Great luck to you, FS!

I'm using fox farm ocean forest in a 3 gallon pot. to avoid nute burn i was told i can fill the pot 3/4th full with the soil then put the remaining 1/4th in separate container and flush it then put it on top of the growing pot and plant the germinated seed.

oh and I've basically been doing that with water. only thing is is ill moisten the top and come back in 4-10 hours and it will be bone dry but to avoid drowning as its my first grow i just let it go for another day before i decide to water. i do the weight thing but never really can tell and do the finger method and usually come up dry but i still feel like if i continue to water i might kill her lol.

oh and i understand about the whole ph controlled water thing but i haven't had the ability to purchase anything that can test this so I've basically just bought gallons of distilled water from Walmart and have been using it.... Is this fine to do?

Distilled water should be fine because it should have a neutral PH between 6 and 7.

what about the way I'm watering? as long as i wait until 1-2 inches deep is dry and water i shouldn't run into any risks of drowning or over watering correct?

like i said i water pretty lightly even for light standards im assuming since im only pulling the trigger of spray bottle 4-6 times each watering and that usually happens once every 2-4 days.

the spray bottle is similar to this

also i am using 4 23 watt 2,700k CFL bulbs per plant. two overhead with reflector that are about 3-5 inches away and 2 on wall in surge protector to hit sides. its a very small start and cheapest setup i could find using just about 40bucks for whole thing not including the soil and seeds nutrients. those i went pretty high on getting the fox farm line.
