Indoor New guy here - laying out my grow plans for review

I see several potential issues with your plan, some of which have already been mentioned. First, 1 square foot per plant won't be enough. At least 15" if not 18" per plant. Second, I would not amend that soil with anything else, especially vermiculite. Vermiculite holds moisture and under low heat lights like LEDs and CFLs you may find your soil isn't drying out fast enough. Remember, autos like to go through wet/dry cycles and the added vermiculite could keep the soil too moist. Third, shoot for a soil pH of 6.3 - 6.5. At 5.8 - 6.0 you will likely run into cal/mag issues at the least. Should it drop any lower you could experience nutrient lockout where the nutrients are unavailable to the plants. Fourth, that soil would be considered a "hot" mix since it already contains amendments like worm castings and guano. Auto seedlings do not like hot mixes. I would highly recommend either starting them in a soil less medium and transplanting, start them in 32 or 44 oz. cups and do a tiered planting, or hollow out a space in the middle of the pot and fill it with a soil less medium so the seedlings can start in it and then grow out into the hot mix. Also, eliminate the 2 days of total darkness at the end. It's a myth and won't accomplish anything.

Ok...made some modifications to the soil mix ...as suggested by briman (perlite instead of vermiculite) Also added 2 cups of bonemeal, worm castings, and greensand....to every 1.5 cuft of roots 707.
Side note: was a bag short of soil due to miscalculation so the last four pots on the right are FFOF....will be interesting comparison between FFOF and roots 707.

WW seeds went in 2 days ago.....hoping for some signs of life soon : )

Since that mix is already very hot, I would not have added the additional amendments. They are also going to throw your pH off and it's likely you'll need to compensate by adding some addional dolomite lime. Bear in mind that autos don't need the same high levels of nutrients that photo plants do. That 707 soil was formulated for growing photos, is already hot, and you've made it even hotter by adding those amendments. Also, be sure and check the pH of the FFOF before you use it. We've seen a lot of bags with very low pH, some as low as 4.5.

You got some nice gear.
And a eagerness to do it rite. Thats good.
Stay humble and listen to guys like muddy. they know there shit.

You can always get bigger. If you start out small your problems will be easier to deal with. Once you get if dialed you can just add more plants

Muddy..thank you for your time to post in my thread.
The vermiculite I was going to use was replaced with perlite (2 gl / 1.5 cuft of 707)
I forgot to mention...in addition to amendments that I made to the soil...so I added gardenlime ( 1/2 cup / 1.5 cuft of soil)
I also felt that the mix might be too hot...so I kept some soil aside and added alot of extra perlite. This soil was used in the baseball size hole I left in the middle of the pot to accommodate the seedling. For the future...I will def take ur advice and use a soil less mix...it makes more sence.

Day 4 - all 16 seeds popped up. Some look better than others.

A few of the stronger looking sprouts have the cotyledan leaves curled inwards...practically touching the stem. Im not sure if this is normal...but the second leaves look good.

That's normal dude.. Don't sweat it.. :Sharing One:

Thanks for the good info aykay...

Some pics from today....I think one is a mutant (but im not sure) : )

Impressive grow room, envious of your size there :) GL with the grow!

sounds an amazing 1st time grow room cush , controll that enviroment with humidity ,heat temp reader ,carbon filter when budding or people will be sniffing lol is it a constant grow system ? you may want a small blue light area going 24/7 after all sometimes we have a moon in uk so make it with a very minimal light source hangingg strilamps are good and box area that light off is what i got good results , my first grow was in a farmhouse attic2 plants hawain male x super skunk female from sensi seeds in 1989 got great seeds too !!! non auto,s in uk are too hard to get right unless you guard em with your pitch fork the bugs can play havok if you dont keep em out from start with sterile earh mixture !!! i will do my sunset devon druids green army dance when the sunset dips over the pots ive just filled but i have allready put a small ammount of vermiculite like 0.3 vermiculite 1.7 perlite 3 x soil peat sterile 2 mixes 1 for seedlings 1 adults , anyway theres some great advise around this place the guys above are all autoflower experts compared to me , good luck cushty
