Hi all,

Just a quick introduction! saw some lovely posts and looks like very nice vibes going on here, similar to the old days, everyone helping everyone out - and some lovely photos always help!! :drool:

Decided to go indoors....slowly gathering things. Have been reading as a guest here for a while and like the vibes, so here I am!! Not a total Newbie (prefer the spelling!), been reading up on this for years, I have around 10grows, but very simple - so still treat me like one please, i prefer that than missing info out!! :dance2:

Always lived in sunny climates where outdoors was preferred option....well...to be totally honest, I lived in Africa, it just happened that it grew everywhere!! It is a weed after all.....

when I emigrated I kept outdoors....pots in hidden places (when. I realised dear and rabbits were a nightmare.....so started putting planks in trees and putting the pots up there!!). Nothing complicated, never got huge yields, but a couple of oz were always welcome for no effort

So....this time...totally personal, this is what i got:

EQUIPMENT
- 300w LED marshhydro reflector
- 60x60x120cm tent
- extract 4" fan+filter
- 1gal and 3gal smartpots
- 2 x small 2x2ft 20w LED (experimental, I am lucky some times)

I will be growing in soil. I will post what I have in that later on when I get the info together

Well...seeds arrived!!!

probably could do with some advice

looking at space:

I have 2x2 area (60x60cm) it's my first grow indoors, so rather than maximise yield per plant (3 gal APots), for the first run I was going to use 1gal airpots in an organic soil, TLO principle. This way I also get a little more variety!!

I am hoping to get 6 in there, the pot is 13cm diameter, so might even be able to push to 8, but I do not want the pots touching....we'll see!!. I am aiming for a total dry weight of 4oz - not much I appreciate, but I would rather allow for a couple of plants lost, a couple of mistakes, etc

Does anyone recommend against this? I could prob fit 3x3 gal if you guys think it would be better?

Ok....Starting to get to grips with settings on the site

So...soil.... I have:

- Jiffy peat plugs for seeding (organic coir & sphagnum)
- Canna Terra Professional
- General Organic Soil Mix bag (sphagnum, compost, EWC+organic bits)
- Dolomite Lime
- Micohrrizal Fungi (Root Grow)
- Agrafeed organic mix (alfalfa, comfrey, seaweed)
- Perlite
- Organic worm casts
- Epsom salts
- Blackstrap molasses
- High P bat guano

THE PLAN:

I do jot have much time to cook a recipe together, so I was going to mix it anyway and put about 30-50% at the bottom of the pot, then fill the rest up with standard Canna Terra and/or organic soil. The rest of the mix will go and cook for round two!
I was going to start the seeds in organic jiffy's and, as soon as roots were visible, place the jiffy directly in a little hole left for it in the pot.

QUESTIONS:

1. If I mix 50% organic soils, 30% perlite, the rest a mixture of 1tbs or 1cup of organic additives, do you think that will be too strong for my bottom half of the pot?

2. Is the idea of using a jiffy straight into the cannaterra/organic soil (not the recipe compost!) silly? Am I better planting directly in the canna. My thinking was the roots will get a little more developed in the jiffy before hitting the soil?


Any advise much appreciated!

I will also need help in selecting strains from my little stash! )))

Nordika - Sativa dom, 50-70g, 10wkss, 120cm

#Anubis - Indica dom, 60-70g, 8-9wkss, 60-100cm bushy (relaxing, fruity)
7 Dwarfs - all of them Colossus is the one I will prob try first
Sweet tooth
Bubblegum


the Hashed ones the ones i think i want to grow first....they keep moving around thou, little rascals!! Lmao

Any particular advise??

I run a 2x2 area and can only get 4-1 gallon smart pots in there. I would go with something that sounds like it will give you an even canopy. Jiffy's are, IMO a bad idea. I would go with the root riot/rapid rooter plugs. Jiffy pellets mesh are hard and can inhibit the roots growing through, stunting your babies. Proven here on a few threads. I use the root riot cubes, germ them in a small tupper ware container on the wifi and have been getting 100% germ rate!! Here is the link for a tutorial...
