Lighting New to CFL. Quick question.

I'm sure this has been asked in the past, but I'm "working" and don't have time to search... Lol

Anyways, I have just acquired a 3'x3'x5' grow tent, and have a 250 watt CFL (2700k) being given to me by a friend.

I'm aware that the 2700k is best suited for flowering, and the 6400k for veg. And I'm planning on grabbing one in the future, but probably not for a while. Other expenses and such...

My question is, since I'm impatient and wanna grow now, if I'm only growing autos, who don't really have a veg period, would I be able to pull off 1 or 2 plants using the 2700k the whole grow, or would I just be wasting my time?

The "VEG" period of Autos is around 4-6 weeks. They'll stop growing in height and start putting on bud weight. Adding small 42w-60w cfls of the "Blue" spectrum is a good idea. Two or three per plant is the norm and you can get them at any hardware store or the big Box stories (WalMart, Target etc.)

of course. the more spectrum and lumens when dealing with cfl the better. if you got $ to get em now. but I wouldn't hold off till then... if that's what ur asking

Thanks for the help guys! I'm definitely going to add some blues in the future, but I don't have an exhaust system yet, so I feel like I'm better off spending my money on that first. I have my eye on a 6 inch fan/filter combo that I'll probably order when I get out of camp on Friday. I'll probably rock a test grow after that just to dial in the environment, then score a few blues for the next one. Patience is not my strongest suit.

The plant will grow with either light, its just the 6500k would get the most out of your plant. I would start it now and get more lights asap. Do you know if the light you have is 250 actual watts or 250 equivalent, it makes a huge difference.
