New Grower New to Pro mix

Just brought a bag of promix bx (goin to use entire line up of AN bigger yield system) to be able to use the veg nutes etc... I amended the soil with crumbled up mosquito dunk and some of the pots used lime some I didn't.,.All of them where first watered with root exceluator, voodo juice, and piranha... To inoculate the soil... My question is this stuff seems so much different than the ffof I'm use to.:. It almost reminds me of a sponge the way it retains water... Is promix known to reduced frequency of waterings? Plants in same size container will water the ffof and it will always be dried out as the promix is still moist... Going I definetly add some perlite to next pots... Thoughts? When is a good time to start 1/8 to 1/4 strength veg nutes (week 1 on an schedule?).

Pro Mix BX has a higher peat moss content than HP, plus added vermiculite, so it does hold more water. BX is good for under HPS lights with their higher heat. HP is better for less intense heat situations, like LEDs, T5s and CFL.

Pro Mix only has starter nutes and they seem to be either insufficent or the wrong kind for growing weed and are generally used up in about 2 weeks. In straight, unammended Pro Mix I usually feed 1/8 strength at the first watering, which in the pots I use, is around day 6 or 7. Second watering is usually around day 13 or 14 and I use 1/8 again unless the plants are showing they can take a bit more. By the third watering, usually around day 18 or so, I go to 1/4 strength and stay at that level till I transplant to their final pots, usually around day 25 or so after they have all sexed.
