I have just began the process of germinating my first ever seeds for my first ever grow :D . I have gone with the paper towel method and put them in between 2 damp paper towels in a sealed bag and on top of my cable box.

My question now is that when they sprout their roots and i move them to their pots, where is the best place to put them until they sprout their first set of leaves.

Should i put them in the grow room? and if so should i turn the lights on straight away? and if so at what height? i'm using cfl's!

Many thanks for any replies

Hey dude never used the bag method but when the tap root is a few CM long then sow into your soil/coco with the tap root down, You can put it straight under your CFLs with the lights on.. Start with the CFLs around 4-5 inch away and then ajust according to how you want your node spacing.. I would have it around 4inch untill they flower and then as low as 2" height :peace: Si

Once potted you can put them in the grow room with the lights on. On mine, I put a plastic cover to hold the moisture and kept the lights close to warm the soil about 1-2 inches away. When they popped I removed the plastic.

Gregblex

I just put my seeds in shot glasses with water for 36 hours, they sank to the bottom but no tap roots were evident, i planted them anyway and they all sprouted within 2-3 days. Similar to gregblex i put clingfilm over the pots before they sprouted, creates a nice warm humid enviroment and keeps the top of the soil nicely moist. As soon as they sprouted took the clingfilm off and away they went! Good luck with grow melki you're about to embark on the most rewarding of hobbies!:smoke:

I do it the way your talking about.. learned how to on this site!

I let the seed soak in a cup of water till it sinks... then
I cut a white t-shirt into a 6' square.. get it soaked & then ring it out totally.. it will be miost enouph.
I fold the t-shirt once, then put the seed in, then fold 1 or 2 more times.
I put it in the bag and leave the bag open... not sealed closed.
place the bag between 2 plates and set on top of the cable box... so far I am 2 for 2 on germination... 100%

Hope this helps..

Hey melki, welcome to AFN and congrats on starting your grow journey! :smokebuds:

The most important factor I've found to help with successful germinations is keeping your soil temperatures in the ideal range. I've found 78-80 degree F to be the sweet spot. If you have a meat thermometer, you can stick it in your starter pots to see where you're at.

Good luck! :gthumb:
