So my jack herer auto is soon to be harvested and i've been searching for some good strains and I came across this site where some people were discussing if it is worth grow autos or not.

http://forum.grasscity.com/medical-...-proscons-autoflowering-seeds-what-catch.html

Well on the middle of the chatting, they said it is possible to grow non autoflowering strains in a pc case! Is it possible? What about the size of them?
And if it is possible, whats the difference between autos and normal strains?

Im a little confuse at the moment...

Cheers

Growing photos in a PC case could be a real challenge. Photo strains will usually double or triple in size once they are switched from an 18/6 veg lighting schedule to a 12/12 flowering schedule. So you would need to do a very short veg to keep them small. Then you would likely need to tie them down using LST, Low Stress Training, to further control their height. Yes, it possible, but not something I would recommend to an inexperienced grower.

My very first grow was a photo plant in a PC case, actually two of them.. I grew a Kushage and Holland's Hope. They were in 4 inch square pots. I only vegged them for 2 1/2 weeks before I put them into flower. You will have to, as Muddy mentioned, LST them, I had to tie mine down so much that the branches were touching the pots:Holy Moly:. Then I found this forum and found Autos..
I only yield about 10 grams off each plant, Ima stoner though, my memory isn't all there:stylez rasta smoke:. So,,, it is possible and very challenging with the room...

I grow in a 26" tall PC case...the smaller/shorter the pot, the smaller the plant, generally speaking. There are also plenty of photo-growers who go 12/12 and orange light out of the chute. I suppose a combination of those may be doable. Smart Pots (cloth pots) also tend to keep plants smaller from my experience.

That Grass City thread is severely out-dated and silly/inaccurate. Seriously the less opinions you read on forums, the better, stick to facts and science, and your own results/experience.

There are quite a few nice-yielding, potent autos out there now...back in 2009 when that thread started...not so much.

I grow a lot of Lowryder strains due to my growing space, they are perfect...nice yields, super potent, tasty, fast. I'm starting to branch-out to Auto Seeds strains now, they look fantastic.

Most of the best auto's today can stand toe-to-toe with a lot of photo strains in terms of effect/potency.

Thank you all for the repplies buddies! Nice to see that I've found the best forum that suits me, one that has people that help and dont just ignore new growers (as I've seen happening on other web sites)
As you see, this is a typical question from a newbie grower like myself. Just another signal that I have a lot to learn about this.
I dont own a pc grow box, but a homemade grow box which i'm using right now, its like 60cmx60x110cm, it has a little more space than a pc case. With time I really want to buy a stealthy pc case (Mr. Grow Pro, what do you think about that?) so I've been researching to improve my home made grow box and, at the same time, methods, possibilities and growing journals of pc grow models.

Muddy - Well, like I said above, I'm a newbie so I see I have a lot to read on! But if its possible, I will try to read as much as I can before I try to do that kind of grow. What about 12/12 from seedling on a pc case? Maybe height will be even shorter and more yield?

stylez - I see you got like 20 grams total, maybe thats what Im getting with this auto one aswell, and its my first grow, just like you!
I see you got some work to do over the plant, I have to do some research about LST and the net method (ScrOG) [seen some videos about that in a pc case, WICKED] so I will search for some journals about that!

TokinNuggs - So I see times changed, maybe autos are now closer to normal marijuana strains on flavour, THC %, yield than I thought.. thought autos were like that, less potent, less effect than normal strains.
Never tasted LowRyder as where I live, you cant get top quality weed, its just too expensive, even the crappy weed is expensive (-.-').

So I have some questions for you if you dont mind answering them:

How many plants did you grow at the same time in that PC case?
What height should I search to buy strains for that PC case grow? I will put a note for that Lowryder, do you have a journal with a grow of Lowryders here?
What were the reasons for you to start changing from normal to auto seeds?

PS: Sorry about this silly question, Im not English, so I didnt understand that "orange light out of the chute" part, what does that mean? That they done it successfully?

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE HELP
Going to put some new pics of Auto Jack Herer tomorrow on my journal.. if you want to see some pics of it, feel free to comment whatever you think of it.

Cheers

The "orange light" is 2700k or 3000k if you are using CFLs. Got a bit of PC experience myself, all of the advice or comments that have been made here are spot on. Look forward to seeing your auto jack. Welcome to a very friendly and informative site.

Glanced at your GC thread, autos are worlds better these days. I have smoked some so called super dank photos and there are autos very close to them. I would bet anything those that posted all of the wise cracks could not tell the difference these days. I started looking at autos 3 years ago and as everyone here knows, there is no comparison what they are now and what there were in 2009 when you posted that thread. I would first ask yourself what is the finished product you are looking for. Photos and autos can be run in a PC, I have ran both and it is a challenge, but it will make you a much better grower.
