Hi there!

I have my first grow started. I'm using Kindsoil and Roots. When I potted up my 3 gallon containers I gave them a light water and let them sit for a day before planting seeds. Out of four containers 3 have sprouts, yay!

I've noticed the soil has settled and I'm wondering if I can add some more Roots soil to the containers? I would wait until the sprouts have time to mature. I would like to add about 2" to 3" of soil.

The babies have only one set of leaves at this point. Any guidance of when I should top the soil? i.e. When the plants have x sets of leaves. Thanks in advance for any guidance!

I add it when I see that they are tall enough. Usually when the first sets of leaves die. Just depends on how long the stem is.

Thanks for the replies. It's bothering me that the soil has settled so much. I'll just have to wait it out!

Don't worry about it,it happens to all of us but next time you start a new grow try and lift pot up and let it fall down a few times to settle the soil than add more if needed flush with top of pot because it will still settle after a few waterings.

Welcome! Subbed up! :pop: Good luck with your grow!

the plus side with a small area clear, you will have plenty of room for either a top coating to help with and through flower which you might need and will totally come in handy there. but yeah nammy dude is right, soil is food so filled to the top, watered in and after a few weeks there is a bit of room for same topping of the pot too. good luck man.
