Mephisto Genetics Not sure what this is ?? Any ideas ?

Mystery Update - Ended up with 4 jars. Day 15 today in the jars. Earthy with slight musty smell. My scale bit the dust so I estimate around 3-4 ozs. Definitely sativa characteristics. Pretty smooth smoke but needs to age. Heady that tails off to nice body high. Nice daytime smoke.

Have you read through their catalogue to see similarities in growing taste smell high

I have not. Good idea. Thanks for the tip !
Do you know how long you have had the seed?

Good idea. However, some people can develop different smells from their growing methods or any issues that occur during the growth or drying periods. When anyone says "Musky" it makes me wonder if it is the strain or an issue that created a "Musky" smell? Someone could have mold or Bud rot, that can create a completely different smell than when growing. Not saying g this is the case. But not knowing the strain, we don't know if the smell is genetics or not.

True but if it fits the bill in many areas there could be a match. Growth patterns smell taste high. Worth a shot and better then going blind not know the strains and their details

Absolutely worth looking into.

Seed stock was mostly like early to mid 2017. No bud rot or mold. I check on this during flowering and dry/cure frequently. No signs of either during grow and so far nothing during the cure. Curing with hum packs at 55 %. Not overpowering just a very slight souring, old unopened closet type smell. My nose is not a good as it used to be though. Grow was a snap under QB's. Not a large plant but bushed up nice with some LST. I'm reading through the catalog as time permits. I don't smoke often so it's difficult for me to judge by the impact but it's definitely not a couch lock high. 15% amber harvest.Thank you both for the feedback.

I haven't grown any Mephisto so I have no first hand experience but this reminds me of a post/question from a new grower with Sour Livers that was worried about maybe having mold because the plant had a musty smell. He has no mold either so maybe you have a Sour Livers.
