Mephisto Genetics OBSF's stealth cab round #2: Fantasmo Express & Double Grape

That looks sick, I love it! Thanks for the picture too. How hot does it get on top of that light? I wasn’t dreaming of flush mounting and remoting the driver, but I may def relocate the driver so I can leave but a few inches of space at the most I think, maybe 4”.. it’s a short space and since mine doesn’t dim for some reason... I may just leave it high and let the plants grow up toward it.. like they do with these autocobs

I finally got around to checking out your other grow the CDLC and livers, those are some fat buds wow! I couldn’t possibly be more excited to get this cabinet finished and this light hung.. Had some delays because nobody at my Home Depot has any idea what they’re talking about. Anyways you’ve been getting some impressive hauls for 2x2! I’ll be happy if I can get 2-3 ounces from my little cab but you’ve given me hope, more is possible! So what’s on deck next for you? Any chance we can expect a sour livers smoke report? =-D

You're welcome for the pic. I'm not too sure how hot it gets above the light, but I keep that fan blowing on it to move warm air around the space. The light keeps the grow space about 8 - 10 degrees above ambient temps of the garage.

I was concerned on the first run with height as I had intended to install the extraction fan in a insulated box outside of the tent, bit didn't have quite enough room. Original plan was to build a cabinet to house everything within and set that whole setup within the garage cabinet. Still plan on doing that when I get some time...

Thank you!
Yeah, time to get that project kicked off and on your way to personally produced goods Wallflower! Enjoy the process as it is such a great amount of anticipation and exercise in patience with the final result being so worth it...

As for what's next, I received some Strawberry Nugget beans this week, so those are going in there later this summer after this round wraps up.

Good luck on the set-up and let me know if you have any questions.

8-10 degrees eh? That’s not so bad in most places. It’s quite hot where I am so heat is a challenge. The 4 x 65 watt autocobs in my 3x3 only bring it like 3-4 degrees over ambient, which blows my mind, room temps usually 75-78 and the tent temp 78-82, I never had such great temps. I just srtarted growing again and back in the day it was mostly hps lights for me and terribly inifficient cool tubes and wow things have come far.

Back in the day before tents, cabinets were pretty much the way to go. Having built a few now, I feel like I can say, it is such a pain in the ass lol I know some people who really enjoy the process but I never did. Designing it sure. But the rest, ugh lol. I just can’t stand working with MDF luckily it’s cab came out looking a lot better than my last couple attempts. It’s progress lol I decided to just hang the light a bit more normally, I decided I can always raise it if I need to. Do we have the same HLG light tho I think we have different ones, nine is HLG 100 v2 and I don’t believe it dims. Here it is, not quite finished yet, the bags are so the super soil can cook lol, it’s not garbage I swear

Nice set up. That should work out well soon enough!

Picked up this QB because of the dimmable driver... Growers lights.com.

I use to build cabinets for a living, so I don't mind so much. I also use plywood when given the opportunity... use a bunch of ULDF at work these days, and the stuff is just gross!

I've got my S&P fan wired to the low setting to keep the sound down to a minimum and thus the larger difference from ambient. I also like that it keeps the grow space right around 75 unless it's a warm day and then it will bump up into the low 8Os. I could always wire it to the higher speed if need be come fall when we get our "summer"...

Going to upgrade to an AC Infinity fan at some point to use it's programmable control to get the space dialed in even more and have year round control.

Looking forward to seeing your project progress!

I have a AC infinity in my 3x3, I got the 6inch. I have some bones to pick with the controller tho I haven’t ruled out user error... but after watching how it responds to temp and humidity changes I would say the programming on the controller isn’t ideal, the algorithm isn’t that bright... it can’t seem to balance the right way between the goal range of humidity and the goal range of temp, so rather than run in a way that would help both stay in an ideal range it’s a bit more linear in its thinking, rather than run at lower speeds and let the humidity come up and only run the fan as needed, instead it wants to constantly turn on and off at the high speed constantly, it just isn’t working in an optimal way.. there’s someone on amazon who left a review that also tried to say as much, it’s kinda hard to explain .. just don’t expect much from the controller thing I guess. I’m still tinkering with it tho

Edit— wanted to add, I still like the fan.. it’s decently quiet for the air it moves, no complaints . Its about as loud as my 4inch vivosun in-line fan was, but it moves twice the volume of air so I’d say that’s decent. I just expected more from their controller

Building cabs for a living? That’s amazing, oh my gosh now I know a pro I can come to with questions like... have you found any decent light proof louvre that are 4” circles? I used 4 inch dryer vent things on mine and they look slick but the light shines right through... oops. Don’t know what I was expecting lol

Thanks for the product feedback... I guess I could use the fixed speed setting and use the smart strip timer for on/off settings in veg as I've been doing with the S&P if needed. Once into flower it runs 24/7. Either way it should give me more ease of change as opposed to two speeds only...

Haven't found a louver but figured some PVC pipe with a couple 90 degree bends would work well. I have a single dryer flange as an intake on the back of the cabinet, so the little light it leaks isn't visible at all from the front (cabinets adjacent and wall on other side).

I use another fitting for a second passive intake on the 3" cord port and it leaks, but that's inside the cabinet so it's not visible unless the doors are opened.

Quicky pic drop...

Little shishito blooms bombing back there too.

Enjoy the Friday evening for those out here in the west, and I guess Saturday morn for you euro cats...

The Mrs. spent the day in Amsterdam, btw... I'm not jealous or anything. :-) Big respects to my Dutch fam.

Getting closer to done and some sweet aromas have got me salivating in anticipation of the fruits.

Feeding with the Buddah Bloom every other watering at light amounts along with the Mammoth P in every watering. No more Silica Blast and only used two light feedings of CalMag the entire time.

Learned to go with a less rich soil from the start on the sativa strains... I feel it slowed the Fantasmo with some issues, but future grows with such strains - Mango Smile maybe - I'll have to adjust. Didn't have a single issue with the same mix for the other three strains.

Day 72 from sprout on the Fantasmo Express and day 58 on the Double Grape...
