I think I screwed up. I am using FFOF soil. My seedlings are 1-week old. After more reading, I am now concerned about FFOF being hot.

Is it too risky to switch the seedlings over to coco brick/perlite mix or mix in perlite with FFOF in the current pot, which would require minor lifting?

Thanks!!!!

How do the seedlings look ?

I'm not a mod so I'm not qualified to answer here, but I think that transplanting now would be risky. If your seedlings are doing okay I'd let them be and think about cutting the mix next time with the FF light warrior or similar light mix.

It might be strain dependant if they have any problems starting in the ocean forest. Are they auto beans? What strain/breeder? Any pics?

They are all autos. The only seedling that appears to be struggling at all is a Six Shooter that my wife knocked the tap root off of. That said, it has now caught up with the twin.

I have a live grow with lots of pics in the "Live and Interactive Chat" / "Live Grow Journals" forum: "Project Green Thumb." I will try to paste a thread, any input is appreciated.

I checked out your seedling pics and they look to be doing fine from here. With your big light you should get some nice big plants, probably going to get crowded in your 4x4, but that's a nice problem to have.

Waira is the infirmary mod here, and has helped hundreds if not 1000s of growers here, myself included. He and all the other great folks here would gladly help out should the need arise. With autos, the fert needs are usually less than what photos would require, so you should be good to go in your ocean forest for at least 15, 20 days easy. Remember, less is more. Have fun with your grow and enjoy the community and knowledge here on AFN, there's a lot of great grows happening here.

:toke: Moon-- primary concern with Fuxfarms soils these days has been seriously acidic soil, poorly cooked and pH'ed,... but yes, it's usually to rich for a starting soil in general; auto's are highly variable in this though, some strains seen to tolerate it far better than others,... look into the photo parents for some hint about their nute' preferences,... So far, they look okay, mate! You'll know instantly, the tips/margins will yellow and brown out, growth slows,... how are you testing actual in-soil pH? ...Hmm, the N content of that soil is an unknown, so I'd start very light feeding with your grow nute at some point, not for a couple-few weeks yet likely... also consider foliar feeding on occasion! (separate lecture there- LOL!)...you'll need a water spreader/wetting agent to do this right, but this product can but used in other, often critical :eek1:, applications too,...

>> Medi' :pass:-- how are ya mate? Thank you for the kind words,... and any who have fine skills and solid advice like yourself are welcome to chime in! I appreciate all such help-:help: :haha:

Thank you for the response and good information.

I am checking soil with a $25 tester and have been just fine. I did buy blulab pens, but did not realize they were for hydroponics and have to return before I can purchase quality pen.

Because I grow for just me and I am home all day with Primary Progressive MS, I have been looking into foliar feeding and have purchased a decent mister for this purpose. My thought was for emergency care. I am curious to know if it is o.k. for me to mist them often with just RO water. They seem to like it and it keeps me involved.

I have one more question "on this subject," with the CalMag, I am using RO, do I need to start adding CalMag sooner or right away?

One more in general, with 1000 watt and 2x 40 watt CFL, is 8 plants too many in a 4x4x7? I am growing 100% for myself, but do not want to compromise quality at all, but love variety.

Thank you for the detailed response.

I am using an entry level Ph meter. I purchased the wrong bluelab (hydro) and am waiting for the exchange. So far I am testing just fine.

Because I am home all day with PPMS I purchased a mister for foliar feeding. Right now I have the equipment for emergency. This said, I have been using plain RO water to mist them daily, is this o.k. (maybe 2-3 times a day)? The girls seem to like the daily mist.

While I have your attention, is 8-9 plants 60cm - 1.2m too many under a 1000 watt HID with 2x CFL 40W. I grow 100% for myself, but want 100% potential, but love variety. If it is, I am IN LOVE with my new hobby and will buy another tent.... LOL....but serious....

Sorry to go on, but while I have your attention..... :)
