Does anyone have a frequency in which they water and how much?
I added about 300 mml
Using Whitney farms soil
With added kelp and alalpha meal, also has some rice hulls and bio char and mycro.
Added earth worm castings and perilite as well
It all depends on your
starting moisture level. When you potted up you wanted it to the level that it stuck together when squeezed in your hand, but you couldn't squeeze any water out of it. Since I think you direct planted, you should have planted the same day you potted up.
IF you potted up properly, with the water you added, you should be good for several days.
I guess maybe another measure could be you want your potting moisture level to be a little over about half a full saturation. That is for future reference since you don't know what one feels like that's fully saturated.........yet!
One thing that I like to do with my living earth grassroot pots is to make the second watering, a bottom watering. The roots will follow the water and go down and explore.
While it's just as important in photos, it's even more important with autos to get a well established root system as early as possible. With proper pot up, that first initial watering directly around the plant after sprouting and fully unfurling or transplant from sprouting puck, gives the top layer a good wetting and helps direct the roots downwards. The next watering several days later is when I bottom water. 2-3 times the first watering. It kind of depends on the pot. The larger the pot the more you're going to need to add to the bottom watering. The roots follow the water!
Just pay attention to your leaves and they will tell you when you need the water again. Usually your first full watering around day 21 to 27 somewhere in that neighborhood.
That's about the best device I can give you not knowing your starting point. In the size pots you're starting out, you're gonna want to remember how a fully saturated pot feels like in your hands. That way you can actually tell when you need the water, is just by picking them up.
It gets a little more tricky when you can't pick them up. I think that's the only negative that I can say about my grassroots living earth pots, they don't have any straps. Otherwise I highly recommend them, especially for organic growers.
Maybe you can gather some info from that little diatribe!
