Looking for something I can use for autos without adding nutes for the first 3 weeks.

Are there any other soils besides FFOF that work well for autoflowering plants?

Other than that my original plan is Biobizz light mix with FF Grow Big + FF Tiger Bloom, Will I need Cal-Mag? Which brand is best?

Honestly... get some Promix and Miracle Grow in a 3 to 1 ratio and you will do great. If using a 3 gallon pot, go a little over 2 gal Promix the rest MG. Dont let the MG haters bring you down. The stuff has been around for years for a reason. If you want organic, use compost tea in coco coir.

Simple mix .... LOWE's Potting and Lowe's Garden soil.

50/50 mix of both at bottom 1/3 of container
Top remaining container with Garden soil .

Will carry plant up to WEEK 2 of flower.
Highly Aerated mix
CRF nutes
( they work very well without much effort )
Use PH water - 6.3 - 6.5
Incredible root mass
( Here is a smart pot that had the roots PUNCH thru bottom , i had to place inside plastic container with a bit of soil to keep plants happy )

As flowering weeks progress , add a little Calmag to water.

If you are layering soil mixes do a little bit of mixing of your media around where the layers meet. I would suggest the illustration above shows one layer dumped or packed on top of another - there's no transition.

I'm not saying its wrong or doesn't work it's just not generally accepted (what is these days lol) good pot-horticulture.

Currently using Plagron Light for the core of a pot and Plagron Batmix for the remaining 2/3 (<< has added guano for high N so no nutes required for growth to flower).

I do add some nutes at flower but that's a generic tomato feed (4:3:8 with seaweed extracts) with some added PK - and I use a lot of CalMag throughout (it really helps with the LEDs).

So your saying with this soil mix all you ever add is CAL MAG after 2 weeks into flowering?

That is not what the photo is showing .... The mix 50/50 is within bag ...
It grew BEYOND THE BAG THRU THE BOTTOM .... I could not pull plant from bag without destroying roots.
So i placed bag into ANOTHER CONTAINER LAYERED with soil.
The pictures shows how well the mix performed. The root system became massive.

It doesnt matter if its a 3 , 5 or 7 gallon. This mix blows up my autos to 4 foot plus on many strains.

It starts to tap out at around week 2 of flower - root mass has begun to deplete the soils base nutes.
Some fading may start and they get hungrier at this point. If unchecked the NITRO drop is apparent quickly.
By then i mix DYNAGRO GROW / BLOOM together to compensate and then bloom til end.

The CFR components of soil mix are used up completely. My new grows have FFOF mixed with Lowe's potting instead at base to provide more base nutes once rootball has filled container. It has stopped the N def in my current girls ( week 4 ) and only add HYDROPLEX at watering ( once / twice ) per flower week.

Sorry I TOTALLY misread the photo (and earlier posts) as being two layers of compost - not root break out from an existing pot. :D
